i cant find any confirmation on anything for this game really, and yes i ben to the super un offical website of theres...it says nothing about any air combat at all...so does anyone know ? no jets or helos or blackhawks this time or what?

I think that they already decided to add Conquest back in later anyway, so I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time, won't it be just as fun to try a new style of gameplay in the Battlefield series? At least I don't think it will hurt it, and if anything, there will be more choices and it will suit the likes or dislikes of different players who enjoy different styles of gameplay. :D

I do have to admit though, Battlefield without jets will be a little... well, I'd hate to say it, but...

Lame, but mostly different. (Different is not always a bad thing, and sometimes you can't expect EA to remake a new game in a series EXACTLY like the previous one, and then some. As game developers, doing all the games they have, if anything, they have experience and know what people want. (For the most part... ;) lol)

Oh well, COD4 didn't even have vehicles, and for a console game, BF: BC should be so much better... I'm not saying that it will make up for the absence of the planes, but at least it'll be THE game to get, espicially with destructable enviroments, I mean, seriously, let's look at the bright side! :p

But the gameplay itself will definently not be lame. Looks fun as heck! Better than anything ever made so far. PERIOD. Too bad people are too ticked off to even give it a second chance. First, it started with paying for the unlocks, then several glitches in the BETA... I mean, come on guys, it's a BETA right? Now, no planes?

Like I said... It's really too bad, but nothing we can do about it now. :(

I'll be playin' the online demo on May 29th, so catch me there if you pre-ordered the game already! If not, then DO IT! :D

Well if you have watched any gameplay videos at all, you'd noticed there are several times where you can get in a helicoptor. Planes though, like I said... Not sure, but hey! Maybe they'll suprise us. If not, they're might be 1 or 2 maps with planes in them... That would be just enough for me, but yes, there will definently be helicoptors to fly and gun. :D

Maybe we can start a petition for a few maps with planes in them... :) I'm thinking it would extremly unlikely, but it's worth a shot. Again, EA did listen to the community and their customers the last few times around and they might/could possibly do it again. The only thing is, I don't think planes would work all that great on a console.

It just doesn't have the same feel as flying a jet with a joystick on one of the PC Battlefield games, but it has been done on the consoles before. (Ace Combat, Over-G Fighters, etc...) Which by the way, I thought those games would be cool, so I rented them, and they sucked... pretty bad actually. :dead: Ugh! DO NOT buy them. Just a heads up, cuz you will waste your $! :p

Planes ruined BF2 in my opinion. You couldn't go anywhere in a vehicle without being bombed to pieces and the anti aircraft guns weren't anywhere near good enough to combat the planes from the ground.

BF2142 was much better and balanced as the vehicles weren't overpowering and there were only heli's and not planes. There were a lot of complaints about the aircraft in BF2 at the time and I think that was the reason why they left them out of BF2142.

I think the maps in BC are too small for jets as they are max 32 player. If it had been 64 player like the PC versions of battlefield then maybe they'd consider it but otherwise you could end up having to travel miles just to get back in the action.

I gotta agree with this one...

When i play BF2(hardly do anymore), i usually go to inf only servers, coz i can't stand the jet whoring in the game... And if i go to Wake Island or some other server with hardware on it, i usually stay as far as i can from them. Because as soon as you hop into jeep or something else, there is jet dropping bombs all over you...

And with BC you combine destructible enviroment and jet whores... That is just gonna be one big FAIL

So keep the jets away from this game... Let helos battle it out... Atleast you can shoot them down with the AA guns...

Its not the jets that screwed up BF2s balance. Its DICEs incompetence, EAs greed and Gods will.

If POE2 crew could make an arcade mod with complete STA vs ATS balance, save for a few bugs left by DICE (LGM issues, but thats not a part of the balance between air and ground), how come DICE never could? Amusingly, POE2s balance doesnt rely on STINGER kits all that much. Its all about the Mobile STA.

During the large number of arguments and debates regarding ATSSTA balance in BF2, the best solution was to throw in more Mobile STAs, including on maps which lack them. Balance is already present. Choppers fire at 450 metres, jets see at 375 and STAs lock on at 300. Throw in a Mobile STA for every 2 air piece, and youve got yourself balance.

1. I thought jets in bf2 were insanely cool.**

2. I thought NO jets in bf2142 was extrememly lame.

3. I agree with BrokenMachine and StoneCold313 about BC having too small of maps for jets to be included into the multiplayer mode, and it wouldn't be that great in the single player I imagine...

4. when I think about it, I could live without jets on this one...

**Considering I got into the Battlefield series late and the only one I have played is bf2, I thought it was the ultimate game and jets made it a ton more worth it because you didn't have to stick to just infantry battles, and you didn't have to just stick to the air. I'm guessing that for some of those who are older Battlefield veterans, (who have played 1942 and Vietnam) have probably got a bit tired of getting pounded from jets and like Chris_Redfield said, maybe it was a little unbalenced. Either way, I didn't notice and I completely loved BF2 and 2142 was great, but no planes turned away quite a few people. My favorite maps in bf2 are Wake Island 2007 and basically all of the city maps, as long as they are infantry only. I never hated the jets in bf2, but I could never stand a chance against another pilot in the air, so again, I stick to the ground. :cool:

It's mainly because i don't (know how to) fly...

Yeah, I was never good in a jet in bf2 either, until I took some time off online play to go practice some bombing runs on the carriers in Single Player mode. That was hard at first, but then I got better at it. :)

I still suck at shooting other jets down though... :|:

I used to hate that when some guy in an enemy plane would constantly bomb the aircraft carrier so you couldn't take off in a plane or helicopter. Used to happen in Wake Island a lot. Thats probably one of the reason why I wouldn't want planes in future battlefields unless they made some serious changes.

Yeah, I think I'm okay without the planes... Might get a little too crazy with all the extra explosions and stuff. Then you'll always get a few kamikazee pilots. :D

I enjoy doing that in bf2 every once in a while, but then I'll usually get kicked off or constantly cursed at by the other team. :)

lol, I have even got tked AND kicked by people because in bf2142, my username account is kamikazee_cow, so people would judge me before I even did anything. Plus, you can't kamikazee well at all without jets, so it's kind of pointless in 2142.

I saw this guy own a bunch of people with a tank he strapped RDX on and let it roll down a hill... He frickin killed half the enemy team :D

Ontopic, the maps aren't going to be that huge since it's on a console... so what's the point in jets?

look at BF2MC, it only had helos no jets
so i doubt BFBC will have jets
Bf3 will have jets

Anyways am I the only one who thinks the scale of the maps in BF2 just aren't big enough for jets, when I fly, it's annoying to have to do a 180 every few seconds.

Yup, I have to agree. They are just two totally different games basically, and so i have to be in the mood to play one before I can just start playing, but I enjoy them both.

Still love the jets in bf2, even though i hate the pilots who continue to bomb the heck out of me every time I play Wake Island... :)
