View Full Version : [BF2142] First Strike Mod v1.2 Map Updates

The team behind the First Strike mod (http://www.fsmod.com/us/) for Battlefield 2142 has released an update regarding new maps. Here is what they had to say:

With the release of First Strike v1.2 just around the corner, we're pleased to present you with previews of the maps that you will find in our upcoming patch. Today we focus on Tatooine Bestine, and Endor Clearing, two very different, and very enjoyable maps.

Completing a daring planet drop and pick up at Mos Entha, three Alliance Gallofree transports finally retrieved a group of stranded Rebel troops under siege by Imperial ground forces. Attempting to avoid the battle against Imperial forces still raging in orbit, the transports flew low and headed for an escape vector over the far side of the planet. Unfortunately, due to a navigational error they strayed too close to the Imperial capital city of Bestine. Once detected, the city’s defensive turbolasers shot down one of the transports. The remaining transports have made an emergency landing near the city outskirts, and the Rebels must now disable the city’s turbolaser emplacements to have any hope of escape.

Endor clearing looks awesome! But maybe it needs a few large rocks for cover scattered around.

textures....planemap is your friend guys. That is why the in-game shots look different than in the editor.

Dude stop whineing that it's not for BF2 you say that about every mod that comes out on BF2142 or other game out there. There is a set list of reasons it can't work on BF2 and here they are:

1. BF2 lacks the right effects support to make use of the advanced Laser effects IE Transform and lighting that BF2142 dose with ease and les code.

2. BF2 dose not and can not support a walker like BF2142 dose natively in the game engine, the code is also not B/C with BF2 "Trust me the developers tryed it with EAs help."

3. BF2 Dose not support hover cars, or anything close to that kind of vehicle. Agian BF2142 dose, and this means vehicles like the Speeder Bike can be much more realistic, and glide more rather then drive like a car only it has invisable wheels ala BF1942 version.

4. BF2 dose not and can not do space battles. BF2142 can and dose vary well with almost no slow downs, and it even supports moveing mother ships with the use of the Titan Code in the game.

All of that was a factor in them makeing the jump to BF2142 and not sticking with BF2 get over it buy a copy of BF2142 for like $20.00 online, or in a store and instal and play the mod for craps sake.

@Jaws: What textures are you concerned with?

for example:

enable planemap in the editor in the textures settings. If you don't, those textures are going to jump around on screen as you go in and out of the view distance. Only apply it to that rock texture set plane map to "1"....and then adjust the top and side tiling to taste. Also, that appears to be the standard editor texture. You can extract and use all of the low detail textures from any DICE created map ya know....;)

Why not just BF2142 if you want to play these mods. ;)

i wasnt complaining......i was just saying it would be really cool if it was on bf2....ffs please.....read and anylyze what it ment.....
