Are you running it at higher resolution? aka 1680x1050 +

I am assuming that you aren't running it in windowed mode? i know the graphics are amazing in this game, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Usually in the trailers they tried to avoid shots from long distance, as in yours. I just went to the same place as your screenshot in ultra high on my comp, and it looked the same. The only thing I can think of is getting one of those modded graphics files (can't remember what they're called) or playing some single player where you're in a more confined space (like the trailers).

Also, the SP levels tend to look a little better than the MP ones even if you play on all highest settings. I play on all very high and SP looks a lot more "real".

MrChris_CJ

The SP levels are usually more detailed and graphically impressive, resolution is something that will own fps in Crysis but 1680x1050 is something drool over

if you are on vista 64 then the game should default to dx10

to be sure, open the game explorer, find the crysis icon then rick click and hit the run in dx10 button

Otherwise the game is the best in terms of graphics out there

Proof (http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=13020) that Crysis gfx are awesome..you need to make sure your running a decent config, decent drivers and that you have customised your driver sin the Nvidia control panel..ie image quality to QUALITY rather than performance etc etc

Yea, my graphics have been kinda dodgy lately also.

Here is a pic of some of the plant life

It looks NOTHING like yours Trevortt. I think I have my control panel set to let the game pick. Maybe I will see if a new driver is out for my video card and check those settings.

Trevortt, that second picture is awesome, what size of monitor is that? That res is like double mine :p

On a serious note, I did take Trevortts advice and change my NVidia control panel to quality settings and it made a pretty big difference. I was surprised by that instead of letting the game do what it wanted. My graphics were pretty good to begin with but they are a bit better.

I have the 8800 GTS 512MB card no SLI.

And you took those? Nice!

Did you change it to look like that in the editor? If so can you tell me how, I have been trying to figure it out. :p

Trevortt, I don't think I've played that game yet, what is it? lol (waiting for my 7950GT to arrive and I'm saving up for a 9800)

But seriously, I don't even recognize those levels.

We are talking about Crysis right!!

Are you sure you have not seen those maps...cos they are in the full game.

Here are some screenshots I took in the editor at 19200 x 12000 and scaled down to be 1900 x 1200 for my desktop. I think they look rather awesome.

Yeah lol, just imagine playing on a 240" widescreen. (19200 x 12000)
If it were possible to make a rig that could play crysis at that res on very high...omg it would cost so much. :dead:

I know lol, before you say anything. It's the only SS I have and I can't take any because my new GFX card isn't here 'till Tuesday lol look at the pic in the background.

EDIT: Yes that SS is 1/1 scale LOL

Hehe nice SS.

I agree, Crysis is amazing, the graphics are just awesome. Without any AA, and everything else on very high with the custom config, it looks awesome, turn on AA and it looks real, except like a slideshow of RL. :p

Makes me wonder what the next installment of Crysis's GFX would look like :P

MrChris_CJ
05-13-2008, 01:10 PM
Well they have no need to create a new engine as of now (although that doesnt mean they ae making another) given that the very highest gfx levels in Crysis werent designed for current hardware

the engine can also be tweaked a hell of a lot and can produce visuals beyond even those screenshots

Have you got the latest Nvidia 175.16 drivers, they work wonders in Crysis, what PSU power and make you got?

I saw this running the other day in a shop and the GFX were "OMG". I thought "I gotta buy that computer" - When I looked at the specs, it was no where near as good as mine, in terms of processor, ram or GFX card.

The difference ? It was running on a HD monitor !

I just bought the game and am playing through the single player story. These are by far the best graphics I have seen in a computer game. Even on my 9600GT at mostly high with medium shadows and sunshafts on.

I have been reading reviews for the new GTX 260s and even they can't play at full HD resolution with very high and a little AA. I reckon it'll be a few years before you can buy a single GFX solution to max the game.
