A new update has been posted today over at the Point of Existence 2 (http://www.pointofexistence.com/) mod website. Here's what they had to say:

We would like to start by talking about some development in POE's Staff. First off, we would like to congratulate Michi.be for his win in the Crysis mapping contest (http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=27188) for his map Borderline. Michi.be is leaving POE to continue his work in the Crysis Modding scene. We would like to thank him for his hard work for PoE and wish him the best of luck in the future.

Additionally we welcome a few new members to our team. Gab has joined us as a vehicle modeler and we already have him on his first project. Also joining the team is Dr. Destructo who's work you might have noticed posted in our forums (http://www.pointofexistence.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17604). Dr. Destructo will be joining us as a mapper and static modeler.

Moving on to the fan map pack, we will be releasing it on Wednesday May 14th. The pack contains 7 fan made maps and PoE conversions of BF2 maps.

FFS, I am going to post a statement here so that folks can stop xfiring me.

It was my decision and my decision alone to pull No Man's Land from the map pack.

As the POE mod has lost alot of popularity, the community has dwindled down to where the only populated server in the US is controlled by a niche "tactical" community. Their rule sets would have a negative impact on the game play environment I setup in my map. As the creator and owner of the map, I have final say.

Just so we're perfectly clear....I did do all the RIGHT things prior to this mess (which shouldn't be).

1. I asked Greasy Mullet to pull the map. He said it would create too much work to re-create the installer without my map. Fine...next to step 2

2. I asked, begged, pleaded, with the Tactical Gamer community to keep the map off of their server rotation. They outright refused. Fine, back to Step 1.

3. I asked Mullet how to get the map out of the pack. He said it wouldn't happen. I said I was prepared to do anything to get the map out of the pack. I suggested being banned from POE2. He said that would be "absurd." An argument ensued where Greasy Mullet accused me of trying to use POE2 to exact some sort of revenge on the TG community. I responded that I was not in any way doing so. He responded that he didn't like my response and then banned me and stated that the map would be removed.

4. Mission Accomplished. The map is not going to be in the map pack. As much as it pains me to do so, this was the RIGHT thing to do. We can NOT ever allow niche communities to have such a stranglehold on content creation especially when it would negatively impact that creation.

Now I understand why the Project Reality folks went with their server licensing agreement.

So with that, I want to extend a sincere apology to the Project Reality folks (Rhino and company) for my negative response to their server stance several months ago. I was wrong.

I will release No Man's Land sometime in the future after it has received the singleplayer additions. Until then....

hehe this is news to me, but ye server admins can really destroy the intentions you have for a map, mod, game or w/e by SSMs and it can just get beyond the point some times. Glad you understand it from our point of view now, apology accepted :)

Hope to see your map out in the SP community thou :D

Posting this here because I know I won't have a say otherwise...

PoE knows Drama, and even a drama queen or two..

that's really nice of you to put a knife in my back after all I've done to support this mod and this community. Kinda funny how you were singing my praises just a few days if not short few weeks ago. Funny how I've done nothing to any of you personally but yet you feel compelled to badmouth me for what? Because I don't agree with a nich community and am willing to stand up for my beliefs???????

Instead of banning me, why not enage in a civil adult discussion about your issues with me????? I did the right things....I asked Mullet to take out the map to AVOID drama. But because everyone is so selfish, that didn't happen until I forced it. Where is the support from POE to me? I've been supporting POE since day 1.

Now if we want to get technical about how much I've helped...well I guess I should let the cat out of the bag.

Two of the fan maps that were created by 0utl4w are in fact joint efforts by me (Jaws) and him. Tuchola Trails....I created the sky.con file for that map. To be specific, I created that sky and color scheme for a map called Dragon Jungle. Here is Dragon Jungle before it became Tuchola Trails.

http://members.speedguide.net/uod/dragonjungle2.jpg

http://members.speedguide.net/uod/screen154.jpg

So as you can see, the reason that map has it's look...is because of my efforts on the map to make it look that damn good. I did this because I'm selfless and willing to help anybody that asks for it. I never demanded credit for my work but since you guys seems to want to bash me, I'm making it a point now because it's wrong for you guys to do this. So please add me in as co-creator for Tuchola Trails.

The next map that I co-created with 0utl4w is Fall of Frankfurt. I created the sky and color scheme for another map...called Mash-Fu City. Me and 0utl4w were doing BF2 remakes for CAL. So the color scheme for Fall of Frankfurt is from my work on Mash-Fu...same map guys. Here it is.

http://members.speedguide.net/uod/screen004.jpg

http://members.speedguide.net/uod/screen005.jpg

So please add me in as co-creator of Fall of Frankfurt. If you have any doubts, ask 0utl4w himself, I'm sure he will tell you that Jaws did in fact help with those sky.con files for each map.

There are alot of things that go on behind the scenes that none of you are aware about...so if you want to judge me, fine. You are doing it with only half the story.

|D|-Jaws is an asset to the mod-community.
He is helping out where ever he can, just because he loves mapping. Right now he is helping DCon as well with some stuff on our maps. His enthusiasm is affecting even me. I had a dwindling intrest in BF2-mapping, but now it is back up again. So support him instead, our mod-community needs every talent.
And if you help out in any way in a project, you should of course get credit for it...that's my opinion at least...

Thanks for aid in DCon lately, I appreciate it. ;)

I don't understand why you've chosen to go this route. How can this niche tactical group's server rules can be so bad. If they are running the only populated server in the US, as you've stated, then they must be doing something right, at least I would think that to be the case, no? And if they truly are running the only populated server in the US and you made this map knowing you did not want them to run it, then did you intend this map to be Euro only or were you hoping that in making it you would rekindle interest on other servers? I guess in the end, everyone suffers... :(

The only reason why TG's server is the only US populated server is cause of the amount of players even playing it still from the US and people don't want to sit in a empty server waiting for perhaps only a few others to play with. Its a great mod and a shame it doesn't have any more players and I blame most of that on BF2's Ranking system... I own and operate another US POE2 server now,

http://module.game-monitor.com/69.13.112.81:16567/image/default/bf2-01.png (http://www.game-monitor.com/bf2_GameServer/69.13.112.81:16567/GamersCrib.nets_POE2_2.1_FF-ON_Server.html)

But I had this server up as of Day1 when the mod was re-released...it only filled up once or twice which was pretty much a spike. I did not apply any rules that effect game play like others did, those players that went to it enjoyed it for that reason. I took the server down cause of lack of players day in and day out and just only recently in the last week started it back up again with some more tweaks.

Jaws and I have discussed this map situation and may end up running it on my server EXCLUSIVE with maybe a few other maps or just 24/7 NoMansLand since its really awesome!!! I helped him beta test it before it even went to the POE devs to look over and all I can say is WOW!

But you have to remember the way TG has their rules it would pretty much render the map useless and completely screwed up as in how its supposed to be played with how its made. But also keep in mind that nothing against the TG guys or their server or even their rules but someone should have honored his request without the drama and the way I was told it would have made more sense for TG to not run the map unless they removed the rules that would cause conflict with the gameplay for that one map.

Thanks for the reply. I guess this is the part that I don't understand, how are their rules counter productive to the maps intent?

Are you a regular on the TG server?

Not on POE, no. But I do play 2142 on their servers from time to time, and if I recall correctly, the rules are pretty similar. I just want to understand how a rule or ruleset would inhibit play on your map, not toot TG's horn or put you on the spot. I do keep telling myself that I'm going to get into POE more now that 2142 is getting a bit stale, the number of maps alone is incentive enough, compared to 2142 :).

I don't agree with the "not entering a UCB" rule for starters.

Also, don't expect to play all POE maps on the TG server, they only play the ones they like to play. Many great POE maps are being left out.

I'll leave it at that, go play POE on the TG server for a month or so. Make up your own mind.

BTW, hi mantis.

That's your prerogative, but doesn't explain how that affects the play on your map, unless you're saying that players are expected or encouraged to enter the other team's UCB.

They don't have all of the 2142 maps loaded either, but I'm not much on the bigger armor maps so this doesn't bother me in the slightest.

BTW, hi mantis.
Are you referring to me as mantis? If so, then you are mistaken. Ask the forum mods to verify that if you feel so inclined, it's fine with me.

Yes, it does explain it because you just answered your own question.

Big armor maps are a staple of POE. Other maps are being left out that are very well done.

No, I was saying hi to a TG lurker by the name of FBmantis who was viewing the thread.

Inadvertently, I guess I did.

I'll have to take your word on that. Are they being left out because they don't play under the server's rule set, player drop off at map change, or something else?

I'm sorry to hear that there are issues as the maps look very nice. I've only had good interactions with the folks at Tactical Gamer... It's too bad that you guys couldn't come to an understanding.

Jaws, would you be willing to port your map(s) over to AIX to be run on a bot server?

I ask because I've been playing on CKW modded BF2 bot servers and having a blast. It's a great way to get your game on without needing other humans to start the server. That seems to be attractive to a lot of folks.

CKW has just recently decided to remove their PoE2 bot server because folks just weren't joining on it. However, the AIX servers have been fairly busy lately...

If you are interested and would like to know more, please PM me. =)
