I ran across this screenshot as I was reading up on more stuff about Battlefield: Bad Company weapons. When I saw it, I realized that I had not heard or seen anything on if pistols were going to be included in the game...

Check it out: LINK (http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/screenshots/?ss=1076&view=ss&page=7&subcat=28)

As you can see, on the bottom right of the picture, there is a beretta pistol (92fs or M9? I cannot tell the difference anyway...) directly to the left of the LMG.

Now, I haven't been upset to this point but please don't say...

NO PISTOLS! (wtf?) There has to be!

And is there really going to be an rpg? That would be... Nice! ;)

Not that anbody would know this information, but I can't imagine a FPS without a nice selection of pistols to choose from. Of course, that screenshot is just a collection of some of the weapons that have been rendered, so I am hoping that the ones I haven't seen or heard about yet, (the pistol and the rpg) will be included.

Im pretty sure that there is pistols...

I mean, there has to be... What kinda soldier you are, if you don't have a backup gun?

And the notorious RPG would be awesome.. :D

I know that there is some sort of rocket launcher in the game. That was shown in this video i saw while back...

One specialist(ie anti-tank class prolly) shoots the tracer dart to the tank, other one locks on to it and shoots around the rock to destroy the tank...

But to be honest, im gonna be looking foward to the sniper class the most, and the laser designator what it has... :D

*edit*

In the news section there is a video showing the SP and the RPG... So it's definetly there..

lol :D True dat!

One specialist(ie anti-tank class prolly) shoots the tracer dart to the tank, other one locks on to it and shoots around the rock to destroy the tank...

That will be sweet, but sort of unfair for tanks and other armour...

But to be honest, im gonna be looking foward to the sniper class the most, and the laser designator what it has... :D

Heck yes! You can definently do some major pwnage from a long distance with that kit... :p Too bad for all the people who love using vehicles and tanks. It's going to be a hard life getting around in a tank or apc without being spotted by recon, hit by artillery, blown up by C4 or mines, and of course, now you might get shot with a rocket coming from someone halfway around a building that you can't see... :|:

Good thing I'm not a 'tank' person. I never really had any luck whatsoever when riding around in a tank in bf2, and so I stuck to infantry, and I really started loving the infantry only maps. So, as it seems, I might actually have a bit of an advantage if I stick to my old tactics... :) But the gameplay, from what I've heard, is very balenced and equal, so we'll just have to wait and see...

That will be sweet, but sort of unfair for tanks and other armour...

Think about it the other way... They can basically drive through a house without any problems... I think that is unfair.. ;)

Besides it needs some teamwork with the rocket launcher... So i don't think that will be too unfair.. Since think about it... N00bs + no mic + rocket launcher what requires team work = FAIL.. :D

Deflex
05-13-2008, 09:10 PM
Very true... I was just thinking about how tanks could like shoot right through a house and obliterate everything in their paths. It'll be fun either way and truly different from any other game. :p

Yes! Teamwork! :D

StoneCold313
05-14-2008, 10:43 AM
I've been thinking about this whole teamwork aspect...

And it seems that it's time for me to buy a mic for the PS3... I can't type fast with the on-screen keyboard. And add tank coming through the house where you are hiding and typing... :D

Deflex

Yeah, mics are fantastic. Cool thing is, that since most of us here are PC gamers too, you should buy a pc mic that is compatible with the PS3. Even though I have an Xbox 360 and two mics for it, I bought a PC mic, and found out that it could work with the PS3 too, so yeah, that would be the way to go friend.

About the teamwork. I am SO excited about the fact that you can create a squad previously before joining a game, so you can be with all your friends. That means no NOT getting along, no n00bs, 9 year olds, bull$**t in general, or people who enjoy tking! :p

(Occasionally I do anyway... ;))

For PC i got Fatal1ty Gaming Headset... They have a mic, but because of the plugins it doesn't work with PS3...

Im just thinking about some old cheap headset(maybe the one came with Socom back in the day)...

And the create squad before game is similar what GTA 4 has... In that you can create "party" by inviting people from your buddy list to join ya. And then go raidin servers, and go head to head against other parties...

But i really like the thing... And i can't wait to see how it works with BF...

Teamwork FTW ;)

And as for the OP about pistols, yes they are in the game.

I bought bluetooth headset today, and it's working perfectly... It cost 15€(23usd), and with GTA 4, no problems at all... And the VoIp isn't even optimized in that game, so i can't wait how it performs in BF:BC...

I set up mine that the game sounds comes from the TV(so does other peoples voices)... So it works as an mic right now...

I changed the settings a bit last night, i haven't tested it yet.. But if it works like i hope/think. Then the voice should come from the earpiece, and the game sounds from the TV...

Deflex
05-24-2008, 08:45 PM
Hmmmmm, by the sound of it, and I don't mean to say anything bad about the PS3, but setting up the mic for the Xbox 360 is basically just plug n' play. :D The only thing about it, is that every game (on the 360) as far as I know, uses a different system like in Halo 3, you have the 'push to talk' setup only, and in COD4, you just talk and your heard by everyone in the game or on your team, depending on the game type.

If the setup you tried doesn't work then check in the options of one of your games to see if there are settings where you can make the voice come from the earpiece, and the sounds from the TV, like you wanted. Because for the 360, again - there is just a settings menu where you can change all that by just clicking on the one you want, but I'm not aware of how the PS3 works in that respect...

StoneCold313
05-24-2008, 11:28 PM
^^

It would be the same if i would use USB/headset with cord... :p

With bluetooth(no wires :D), you have to connect the mic and the PS3. What is basically push of an button. You can set up the output for the in-coming voices when you set it up. And i used the TV output at first. But then i changed it to the headset and it works like a charm...

Deflex

BrokenMachine

At least you've got it all working now, I'm gonna give my USB headset a go first I think. Why they didn't make a bluetooth headset with 2 earphones we'll never know

StoneCold313
05-25-2008, 05:16 PM
It worked from the start... But i messed up the output sound.. Meaning all the voice chat came out from my TV along with the game sounds...

After changing the settings, the voice chat comes out from the earpiece, and the game sounds from my TV...

And the bluetooth headphones with 2 earphones, wouldn't be good... Atleast i wouldn't buy them...

Because if they are "closed" earphones, then it would be hard to hear the game sounds. And you really don't want every sound coming out from the headphones... :D

Hey Stonecold, whats the name of that Bluetooth headset? It sounds exactly what i need.

It's called Insmat HS200. But i don't know if you can get them from outside Finland...

If you want bluetooth headset, and got the cash to spend on it. Here's Logitech's PS3 bluetooth headset

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3675&cl=gb,en

But if you don't have the cash...

There are other(cheaper) options too...

Sony's BT's seem to work pretty well with PS3... And then there is Jabra's, they seem to work too, and they shouldn't be that expensive...

*edit*

Here's one what should work without any problems

That Logitech is bit too expensive for me too... But the good thing is that Logitech hardly makes products that doesn't work/breaks down fast. And if there is a problem, they are willing to change the product...

But if you wanna look at some other options, there is lot of Nokia's, Sony's(previosly had lot of problems, apperantly Sony fixed them with the firmware updates) and Jabras(comes with Warhawk game) what works great with PS3...

But the GioTeck should work without any problems too, since it's made for PS3...

I didn't realise you could make it so only the voices come from the headset. I was just assuming that voices and sound came through the ear piece at the same time. Hence the reason why I was going on about having 2 earphones. But that sounds pretty good just having the voices on the headset. Might have to invest in one now :)

StoneCold313
05-26-2008, 12:43 AM
That would suck if all the sounds would come from the earpiece...

But thankfully you can set it, so the voice chat comes out from it...

But i've been really happy with the mic.. For the past few days i've been playing GTA 4 online with some peeps from Finland, and mic takes the thing to whole new levels of fun... :)

Deflex
05-27-2008, 03:13 AM

Atleast i hope it takes some...

Deflex
05-27-2008, 05:56 PM
I think there has to be teamwork and it would be hard to do it if no one in your squad has the appropiate kits...

I think that first the specialist kit has to shoot the tank with the tracer dart, then the Anti-tank kit can lock on to it from anywhere, within a certain range probably...

StoneCold313
05-27-2008, 06:28 PM
Yeah, that's about it....

I just hope that people who has the anti-tank kit(and doesn't have a mic) understands to lock on to that tank ASAP when i shoot that tracer...

And to get people to use the specialist kit, they should give point or two for shooting that tracer(you shoot tracer, i shoot the tank we get points. If i shoot the tracer and no-one destroys the tank, i don't get points)... Just to get people to use that kit...
