lol well i added crosshairs to the knife in my mod but punkbuster would kick you if you edited the original game files.

use a whiteboard marker and put a rough circle on your screen to help you knife more accurately. Its hacking at its finest.

Indeed. That's the best way to do it because if you modify the game or the game files, you'll be cheating in a way that will cause Punkbuster to ban you.

No, but a little dot in the middle of your screen could help you out, washes right off.

One day I set my desktop backround as all black with a white bullseye drawn in the center, then just left my laptop on with no screensaver for a few days. Now I can use it with any weapon. Works in excel, outlook and TGN beautifully.

:yay: got my green text working.

Just use a gun instead, thats what i do in knife fights.

hell no- not enough ammo, and less fun!
i had a duel with a knifer who only knifed the entire match. i lost, but was great fun jumping around and slicing nothing....
thats what BF2142 is all about.....

i dont really see why it would be a bad thing caus technically i mean where does that crosshair on your vision come from? The funny gear in your helmet technically gives you that. the gun doesnt so couldnt you have your gear configured so you have a crosshair? though yes it does seem kind of stupid

I have never wanted any crosshair for my knife... If you are close enough to stab them, they should take up a good deal of your screen xD
hooahguy
05-22-2008, 08:42 PM
it didnt work for me :(
whenever i knife, i either get them in one or two slices, or we jump around a bunch of times trying to knife each other until someone comes and shots one of us or one of us wins.

why bother w/ the dot? if you're close enough to knife someone, you have a pretty large target. it's just a matter of making sure that you're timing is correct. i for one would not want any spots on my monitor. as it is, my 3 y/o took a pen to it once & not all marks came out. just practice, don't add some extra crosshairs or dots.

Yeah, it could be a disaster if those marks don't wash off of an LCD monitor. And you won't win against Moose in a knife fight anyways.

if your any good wit programing you can make a program which is just like Teamspeak over lay but has crosshair. i made one with the time and some other sh*t on it. Or you could just tie a piece of string to ur monitor

lol just go into an empty server with an assault rifle , get ur scope up and pencil in over ther aiming dot this is helpful in many situations not least the knife it's great for when you get emped and setting orders when you have no crosshair liek on a ladder or in an fav for exaple

I remember drawing a dot on the screen in order to pwn with the AWP in CS:S - people always thought u were cheating when getting HS while zoomed out :)

a circle would be alittle less disracting and won't get in the way of your normal gun crosshair. Sniping with a smudge on your screen is no fun
Dtneter
05-23-2008, 01:51 PM
lol do what i do: play with no crosshairs at all, now thats a challenge for sniping but it works, it makes you suck in the beginning but in the end you know where you should shoot.

I always bring my pilum to a knife fight so look out if that little dot in the middle of your screen starts to get bigger. :D

just keep knifing. eventually you'll know where to place enemies on your screen. :)
Using no crosshair makes your aim twice as good. It's VERY difficult to get use to though, as I'm use to shooting and seeing the crosshair move from recoil and deviation and not just seeing bullets. But it will only help you in the long run if you practice enough with it.

I dunno. Crosshair or not, there always feels like there's something fishy in the way hits are calculated. Should I be aiming ahead of them or behind them while they're moving because it seems like even if they're completely stationary, I end up having to swing more than one time.
I've read that the knife, too, is like a gun, but its 'bullet' dies far sooner and the 'bullet' doesn't actually come out upon clicking fire. So a moment after firing, the projectile killzone comes out and is apparently judged by the same terms as a firearm.
I guess one thing to sort of equate it to, for the sake of explaining what I'm trying to explain in terms of the game's "physics" is when you throw a grenade, the distance and direction of it is influenced by your movement and the target's movement.
But that's probably not all. What about lag compensation? My knifing is definitely not 5/5 and probably barely 2/5 when I am getting shot at.

The knife's kill zone moves with you as you rotate. How long it lasts I have no idea.

That would be considered a D3D Hack. Even if it doesn't inject into the BF2 process. D3D combines all RenderTargets (what you see) when it draws to a device. So the PBSS would pick it up.
Flat out: It is hacking if you make the game draw the cross hair.

I should go ahead and mark a second dot in place of the rorsch's real point of fire.:p That way I wont be distracted by the fake crosshairs when zoomed in.

You can go ahead and do that program idea. But if you get caught by one of our streaming members at PunksBusted, you will be put on the Master Ban List and banned on many servers.
