ctd is there a fix?

use to play pr on vista a while back with no probs. no i installed the latest version .i have core ,levels ,and patch installed.
ive tried reinstalling everything, renaming path etc nothing seems to fix this damn ctd on map load.
help? anyone know a fix that actually works? i tried pr forums and theres lots of suggestions ,but they havnt seemed to help anyone with this issue from what ive read.
threads are full of "yep tried that didnt work, nxt suggestion?"
so i thought id try here now since theres some fairly cluey people here.

sorry about that . here it is- dfi lpltx48t2r/x6800/2x1gb ddr2 1141mhz/ 8800gt/prelude 7.1 /3x74gb raptors raid0/ thermaltake 850 watt /vista 64 sp1/
ive almost given up with this mod. ive tried everything, i dont think it works properly with vista , if it doesnt then its not worth playing imo. vista is a good o.s now.

No, i know people with vista and they run it better then my PC, your PC should easily rock PR, the only thing i could tell you is to re-install or before you do that right click and run as administrator o.o

when you start the game up, what is the exact version number you see in the corner of the screen? it's a long number. There has been in the past a dodgy download available out there that ISN'T the latest version!

Always select "run as administrator" and "run in windows xp compatibility mode" in the shortcut properties. Failing that, right click and "run as administrator" when you play.

also run in windowed mode to get a error when CTD'ing
