Well I just got an email from EA Support saying that there will be no Australian Support for BF:BC as in No Australian Servers at all I am extreme pissed as I was stoked for this game couldn't wait but nope EA seem to ruin everything good.

I am not the only one that has received emails like this I saw it in a thread on the EA official BFBC forum many did the same thing as I did and emailed and got a reply saying No Local servers I will get the email up when I am able to access hotmail.

Why don't you host your own server?

I remember reading from somewhere that DICE/EA handles the servers in the demo.

But you should be able to make your own server in the full game...

BF:BC is a console game, you can't just host your won servers...

At least thats what I'm aware of.

GTA 4 is a console game too, so is Metal Gear Online and Burnout Paradise... And you still can host your own server...

Damn, you can even make your own online season in NHL()...

So don't say that you just can't do it... Since it's been done so many times before.

The hosting is bit easier on consoles, because the game makers doesn't have to worry that someone mods the server settings that it gives massive points to everyone. Well, atleast it's not their primary concern...

So i don't see why you shouldn't be able to host your own game...

It could be that im wrong with the 'host your own server' thing with this one...

But that's because lots of games has the option to host your own server, and i never played BF:MC...

Well just have to wait and see when the full game is out...

Normally you would be right.. But EA like dedicated servers for there console games because they are more stable than user created ones (run off your console) and also you don't have issues with people being kicked off if the host disconnects

In GTA 4 and MGO if the host disconnects, the hosting resposiblity moves to the next player. So you don't get kicked even if the original host disconnects...

Time to time in MGO i have lost connection because the hosting moves to someone with either really slow internet, or he's from the other side of the world...

But generally the host change goes smoothly...

Flamesfan_21

i wish i got that in GTA4, i occasionally get the "Host disconnected, returning to singleplayer" message, which is a real pain.

Then again, the internet this far out in the sticks isn't exactly reliable. :shakehead:

That could be that host/you lost connection to the RockStar end...

I get that message too sometimes when i try to start the MP...

Well, I too think it would be great for us Aussies to have our own BC server.

Who else is getting a server, because it wouldn't be right to whine if there are several other countries getting "ripped."

UK works for most of Europe..with possible need for a server in Germany/Sweden to cater for just about every country.

US works for North America, Canada and South America.

There SHOULD be one in Aus, for Oceania.

And there SHOULD be another located in Asia..

LexLuther posted the server locations to the Battle Recorder thread. Im sure that he was talking about the demo servers...

Here's how they go
.::Update::.
Server Locations to my knowledge are:
US: West Coast (San Jose, California), East Coast (Some where, Virginia)
Europe: Geneva, Switzerland
Asia: Some Where, Japan

If US works for SA, surely the same logic could be applied to the Asian one (allegedly Japan) would work for AUS?

There should be an additional bunch of servers in SA as well... in addition need for an AUS one.

But that "test drive" thing is really good idea... Atleast you won't be wasting your money to something what doesn't work, if it doesn't work...

Asia is also, quite large, and how it will handle BOTH Oceania and Asia at the same time, is beyond me.

First I'd like to say to Cryptik that the title of your post is extremely rude and childish with the audacity to request an official response. Since you are only 17 I'll give you this advice, you attract more Bees with Honey. What that means is being a complete douche won't help you concern (which I agree with you is valid). Try being a bit mature and I bet the DICE guys floating here would have been willing to help out and/or post.

Now, have you played the Demo?

Okay boys... Stop the fight before it even starts... :D

One question though...

Cryptik, you are playing the demo, right? Have you had any problems with it? (Mostly meaning constant lag)

Since if there hasn't been that much lag, there must be server(s) close to you. And if that is the case in the Demo, i don't see why it would change in the full game...

I get sniper I crouch I shoot a stationary enemy in the head and I miss then I see that he has lagged in to a vehicle! about 5-10mins later "You have lost connection to the Server check your Ethernet connection" yet I don't disconnect from PSN

When I do shoot someone in the head there is like a 2 second delay sometimes

That sounds like a bad server... Meaning you are prolly connecting to Geneva or some other server what ain't no where near you...

I do have to agree that EA should hook guys/girls in Australia up too...

Unless this game has the 'host your own server' option, or EA sets up servers in Australia, then you guys/girls are pretty much screwed...

There will be no option to host your own server due to them being run from a Computer rather than a PS3

StoneCold313
06-23-2008, 08:07 AM
I meant with that 'Bad server' part that too much distance between you and the server. And that causes the lag.

For example, if i connect from Finland to Australia, i would get major lag due to the distance... And my ping would prolly be like 500+... :D

BF:BC is a console game, you can't just host your won servers...

At least thats what I'm aware of.

I always assumed you picked from the option:

"Join Game"
"Host game"...

If you host it then is that the same as hosting it from your own internet connection?

I'm confused...

well Alex passed the info on but I guess DICE's hands are Tied :( Sorry about my slightly condescending post earlier, but these guys are people too and I sometimes defend them a bit toughly since barely anyone else does. :)

Though I'm still not 100% sure if you're saying you always get lag or just most of the time. You're on PS3 if I remember right because I did hear horror stories of the XBOX 360 getting lag that was fixed.

And trust me, if that even makes sense ;) EA will not let your region suffer for long if it means them losing sales. :)

Ah.

As a helicopter pilot I have to deal with TANKS shooting shells and 50 cals at me. I have to deal with FLAK guns, shredding my helo's armour. I also have INFANTRY firing M95s, MG3/6s, and anything else that will reach the helo.

I have TEAMMATES, PISSED OFF THAT SOMEONE ELSE GOT THE GUNNER SEAT shooting me, whittling my helicopter to pieces.

And to top it all off, flying is completely worthless in the end, because flight sessions are affected by lag, to the point where my helicopter jumps and skips around, there is no smooth flight at all! No precision, which is what combat flying is all about..

I think I am safe in CQC, because I see the enemy isn't aiming at me directly, angled off by about 30 degrees. I die, and I see their weapon "snap to" where I was standing. Never experienced that in any other game (except for the super laggy hitboxes of BF2).

I have a 5000 Kb connection with TPG, and am in NSW.

The Eliminator, is it possible you in WA are connecting to an Asian server? And we in NSW are connecting to the East Coast of the US, inducing more lag?

Yeah I've had some pretty bad lag recently but I find the best thing to do is to leave the game and try and find another server. It sometimes takes a while but usually I can find one that is lag free. It would have been really helpful if you had a server browser so you could check your ping and what not but I guess with us having to use EA's servers only they wanted to control what server you'd be joining and hence we have the lag problem.

same....

I've figured how to kill people who are running now, i have to aim probably a good 1-2m infront to compensate for lag, and that cant be a game mechanic...10m away from the target and i have to compensate that much....
