how does the gold edition gun thing work?

just wondering because i want to try and rent the game because my game has not shipped yet. i ordered the gold edition and wondering if playing the standard version will hinder my gold edition unlocks when i get it

Good quesion, it might do a disk check. I have Gold and started with it and it gave me some Gold Unlock alert which I think happened each time I started Multiplayer. IMO don't play online if you rent, just play singleplayer and thighten your skills.

There are 2 versions. Standard and Gold.
