Swapping CON files!

I tried this in the Support Section but didnt get any replies so I'll try here!

Is it possible to put my BF2 CON file(controls) in 2142 so I have the same config as BF2? I had to manually tweak my cfg in BF2 to get certain keys to work. I have the same exact problem in 2142.

I was hoping I could so I dont have to get a brain clot & crosseyed trying to redo the 2142 cfg. LOL

Why don't you just back up both .con files and swap em? See what happens? If anything goes wrong just replace them...

Well, I dont know. I just took a look at both CON files and they appear quite similar. However, I agree, you should back them and see if it works.

When you play the full version you're going to have to tweak your settings, with the unlocks in BF2142 you'll need more keybinds.

I did back it up! LOL I swapped them also & it worked!

What do you mean I will have to tweak it when we can use unlocks?

I don't usually use keys to switch weapons anyways except for the 2 & 3 slot on the weapons. Other then that I just use the mousewheel to switch weapons.

Crazy. I do the exact same thing. I've almost rebound my entire controls. Plus use only 2 and 3 for weapons, they rest is scroll wheel.

Well, I found one flaw in doing the swap thing! Now I can't turn the Hover tanks. LOL

Its as if my mouse is non responsive. I can still strafe side to side, I just can't turn. Its the ONLY vehicle I can't turn. I can definately live with it though. I have my keys the way I want them now. I can handle not driving the Hover tank. I suck at it anyways.

I may look through the Original cfg that I have & see. Apparantly I am missing the Axis part of the file. I will just try to find it & add it to the new cfg!

Here is my cfg! I have played all FPS games like this since Ive played so it is easy & second nature to me now.

I use the NUMPAD keys ONLY. except for like map, squad screen, etc.

Numpad key:
1 = backward
2 = prone (in vehicle it is gunner position) (F2)
3 = weapon slot #3 (main gun) (IN vehicle it is driver position) (F1)
4 = Sprint (IN vehicle it is Turbo Boost)
5 = Strafe Left
6 = Strafe right
7 = Main Radio (Spot enemy)
8 = Reload
9 = Enter/exit
0 ins = Ventrillo
.del = crouch
Enter = Jump (In vehicles countermeasure)
+ = Weapon slot #4
* = zoom map (mini)
/ = parachute in BF2 ... Nothing yet in 2142

Mouse buttons:
Left = Fire
Right = Forward (yes I know ... wierd huh)
Middle = Alt fire (iron sight)
side = Pick up kit

All the rest are default keys.

You will need to add these lines to the vehicle's section of your config:

ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIPitch IDFMouse IDAxis_1 0 0
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIRoll IDFMouse IDAxis_0 0 0

I tried to bind the same key for crouch in the soldiers and vehicle tab. The first keybinding works but when I try to bind the key in the vehicle tab it says the key is already bind for crouch.

So I tried to find the config file for my profile to change the key binding there, but didn't find it. Can somebody tell me the name of the file and where I can find it? Thanx in advance ;-)

Wow.... impresive the way tou maneage to play, i always use the WASD cpmfig, and playing like this i learnead my keyboard so i can wrte without lokking the keys and in the same time watching TV

Be Afraid .... Be VERY Afraid! lol The nice thing about using the right Mouse button is that it frees up a finger on the left hand! I can hit reload/Spot target/change weapon, etc while I am running forward.

It works great on games that have the lean function also. I use the 7 & 9 keys for leaning. So i could lean left/move right, lean left/move left, etc! AND ALL the keys are in line instead of offset.
