BF2142 in WIDESCREEN (vert -) or any resolution

Simply edit your shortcut as follows:

"..\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx xxxx +szy yyyy

e.g. "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

I wish my game would run at 60FPS at that res like BF2 did. I tried it at the recommended and it dropped down to 12FPS :<

I find BF2142 runs BETTER than BF2 for me so far...

Just to let ppl know, this is not true widescreen using the shortcut suffix. Just overscans the image and stretches the HUD. In the end you end up cutting off some horizontal pix and even more vertical pix. So i guess the EA/DICE argument for "unfair advantage" actually applies to widescreen players using the +sxy/+sxz suffix. BS, i'm satisfied playing with a few missing pixels, but it is a "disadvantage". Really though, does it make that much of a difference compared to other hardware out there? ehh.. rant for another thread; already been made... many times.

There are quite a few threads covering this, but i'll a post i one made where i did a meticulous testing in BF2. Results are be the same in 2142.

Yes, hopefully everybody is aware by now that DICE has pretty much publicly stated that they will not support widescreen. Their reason? They feel that widescreen monitors aren't prevalent enough.

Can I make my 1280x1024 monitor letterbox to 1280x760? Is this even possible? I tried Google but to no avail.

A nvidia card can put a 1:1 pixel map up for you so that it letter boxes, I play it streched to fit screen and it looks fine to me.

Talus, i believe the reason DICE will not support widescreen is that they feel having it is "an unfair advantage". But you're right , the reason they feel that way is the number of ws don't come close to the number of non-ws(which is still lame, but that rant is in many other threads).
