PS3 Greatest Hits Launches Today

Coming as a rather sudden surprise, it's been revealed that the Greatest Hits line for the PlayStation 3 is launching today!
As announced at our E3 press conference, some of our top PLAYSTATION 3 titles will be re-launched as Greatest Hits. Starting today, you can now get these blockbuster titles for only $29.99. Yep, you read it right, $29.99. So for all you PS3 owners out there who have been holding off on any of these games, now is your chance to expand your videogame collection. Not a PS3 owner? No more excuses.

Check out the list of Greatest Hits:

• Warhawk, Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man, SCEA.
• Call of Duty 3, Activision
• EA Sports Fight Night Round 3, Need for Speed: Carbon, Electronic Arts
• Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas and Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft
• The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda Softworks
• Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Tecmo

And, just to add a little more spice, we’re making the cases red so you really have to try hard to miss these at your local store.

Theoretically, you should be able to walk into your favorite game retailer and pick up any of these titles today for the new price, but it's always possible that not ever retailer will have the Greatest Hits in stock yet. For just about $30, some of these are going to be very hard to pass up!

I'm personally going to pick up Resistance at some point.

I have Vegas on the 360 and it's fantastic, one of my favorite titles on the system. Assassin's Creed is decent but at $30 it's a pretty good deal.

IMO, Oblivion on the PC is a more worth-while purchase if only for the countless mods out there for it.

And the only other one that I can comment on as I've played it to any extent is Ninja Gaiden Sigma. To me, it just seems like a pretty version of the old Xbox Ninja Gaiden. They tossed in a few extras, but it's not really my cup of tea.

Yeah, it's a bit on the short side (I actually just rented it for 5 days when it came out and managed to beat it), but worth it if you can find it cheap. (Maybe $30 is cheap to some, but my fiancee managed to get a copy for about $18 I believe.)

Resistence is worth a gander, I got it for like $20 pre-owned and it's pretty good for that amount. I've always really wanted to get Motorstorm but didn't really fall in love with the Demo so probably won't bother.

We just had these abominations come into work today, not sure whether their the UK/Europe equivalents of this greatest hits release but they are £19.99 instead of the normal version which is £44.99.

And holy god the boxes are FUGLY! The silver box would look tacky on their own, but those yellow thrown on stickers are just disgusting. (Sorry awful quality from my phone)

yea i heard that the spanish ps3 boxes were going to look like that but not the aussi ones those are really ugly.

I hope the Aussie ones are Just Silver no yellow :S we haven't had the same as UK before so I guess ours wont look like that.

Plus the covers are printed in Aus anyway

I think i could get Fight Night Round 3(finally)... But if the box is gonna be looking like that, i'll just get the 'normal' version...

I mean, those yellow thingys are just really, really funky looking...

I wonder how much these will cost in Australia. Considering that the average price for a PS3 game is $99.95-$119.95, I say the platinum games should be about $49.95-$59.95.

Hm, not too bad, but still a bit pricey for me. I would recommend getting Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted, for you others.
