Is there anyway to limit or clear up some of the HUD clutter...names, BF2 player logo...stuff like that?

Seems like there so much HUD clutter from your team it's hard to locate and tell who's an enemy or not when on full servers. I can see my teams names and logos clear across the battlefield.

In options you can adjust the transparency of the mini map, other than that....nope.

In BF42 there was a config setting that limited server and player info to a couple of lines. It helps some. I don't know if this is possible in BF2142.

I have to agree that the HUD is VERY VERY cluttered. There's too much going on and a lot of it is useless. I don't care too much if a certain player has disconnected or was kicked. I'll press TAB to see who is playing.

I don't care if =Uberl33t=Tbagz@llday killed [PIMP]12yearold.

I'd rather play the game.

I noticed all the things the OP mentioned, but they did not bother me. Left Alt is your 3d Map, and for me, that's pretty important. So far all the information has been useful to me.

Yea, adjust the transperancies if you want. It hasn't really bothered me that much. :p

The text on who killed who with what isn't my problem. It's all the little icons/triangles/dots with names/bf2 logos/directional icons all over the screen that makes up the clutter. That's what I want to limit.

Also, just what does the 3d map provide/do?

That shows you icons for the Control Points (or missile silos) and in BF2 it also showed friendly mines/claymores/ etc in the form of the red skull. Not sure what exactly it does in 2142 though. Without it I would be completely lost.

Now if only we could fix the layout for the hmg sights or the advanced sniper rifle.

The 3d map is the problem. In all other Battlefield games I've used it, and it's been extremely useful. In 2142 I need to turn it off. I think the extra movement distracts me when I'm trying to gun down a few pixels 100 meters away.

I've learned to use the minimap much more, I think to make up for the lack of the 3d map when it's off.

I'm not too bothered about the "2" logo for vets, but the green colour of names for squad members is useful and the red diamonds for enemies is cool.

Also, the silo numbers are invaluable for a squad leader. Just move your crosshairs over the silo number and just press T - issue order and your attack order is done. Otherwise you gotta hide or stop moving, bring up the map, point to a location, select attack, come out of the map again - takes way too long and you can't see what's coming!

Agreed that the 3D map has gotten out of control.

I recommend binding the toggle key to something convenient, and then turning it on/off as needed. I'll typically turn it on while spawning or starting out (to choose my target and objectives), but quickly turn it off as soon as any combat starts or looks like it'll start.

Limit it? Sort of. Buy a widescreen monitor and everything is more spread out. Then b!tch about DICE not providing widescreen support ;)

Can't say the HUD info bothers me much. Widescreen probably DOES help. Although I can handle a lot of crap going on fairly easily....just wish my computer could keep up. Whered my FPS go?

I used to frequently switch the 3dmap on/off in BF2 (usually off, was turning it on when I needed medpack/ammo)). Now I stick with it turned on, cause only in that mode can I see the red diamonds pointing to enemies.

Transparency is the way to go for what you are talking about.

I notice whenever someone does a kickvote, the HUD becomes REALLY cluttered.

Yea there needs to be a way to turn off invidividual things. I hate the who killed who. Wtf is it for? No one ever reads, why would they? It just takes up view space...
