View Full Version : How To Tell When Claymores will Kill Teammates

On some servers, Claymores (or whatever the fancy "future" term for them is) will kill your own teammates, and on other servers they won't. As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to matter whether Friendly Fire is on or off. It seems to be a different server setting. Am I right? Before joining a server, is there a way to tell whether claymores will kill friendlies? They work great for defending a Titan, but only if they don't give you TKs.

the claymores (actually called APMs) will not detonate when a friendly walks in front of them. they will detonate when an enemy walks in front of it, obviously. the problem comes when both a friendly and an enemy are in front of it. the APM will detonate because it sees an enemy, but the friendly will get caught in the blast. sux, i know.

As far as I've seen, the claymores will not kill teammates UNLESS they are in the field of fire of the claymore when it explodes. Say you place a claymore in front of 3 friendlies (or 3 friendlies run in front of your claymore, whatever). If an enemy runs in front of that claymores while your friendlies are still there it will kill everyone (enemy and friendly) in front of the claymore.

So in other words, the explosion kill everyone but only enemies can trigger the explosion.

Does that also count for the mine's from enginner class or are they still prone to getting you teamkills all round:confused:

Tis true, but I find that rarely happens, the Claymore is by far the best weapon for me, so many defense of Titan pins for it. The best place for it is in front of Reactor core doors and console doors. If a friendly gets killed then they need to look around more, thats my 2 cents

I haven't tried the engie mines yet, but I'm assuming they are similar to the claymores (just like in BF2). It was a pretty obvious decision to keep the mines from killing teammates back then - as people would get others kicked from servers on purpose, to the point where everyone was afraid to use mines.

I'm also assuming they probably work just like the claymores do... if your vehicle is standing over an enemy vehicle bumps into you, so both of you are over the mine then both of you die.

This is all assuming friendly fire is on. If friendly fire is off then no weapon on your side will kill a single teammate no matter what.

Thanks for trying to answer;)

I hope they dont teamkill this time cause that will suck and i will be back to rushing back out in to the road just to get mine's down just before an enemy tank approaches:cry:

Just like now I am avoiding the hover transport at the momnet until they fix the TK fest that I get punished for while trying to land and everyone aboard pods into the ground and dies from 10 ft up.

Spets.....that banana drives me nuts for some reason.

APMs will teamkill if FF mines are on.

I'm guessing dice STILL hasn't made it so you can see if a server has this option on or off :P

Damn, that's what I thought. I take it a QTracker wouldn't be able to let you see that setting either. (Let me know if I'm wrong!)

claymores denonate on sensitivity. A walking team mate won't explode while a sprting one explodes. same with enemy
