quick question about the first squad leader unlock

Simply, do you have to have this to allow squad members to spawn on you? Also, the first game i played in, i would pod down to the SL, but thereafter i would just spawn like BF2. Why?

I'm thinking it acts as a spawn point even if you're not alive. (But i don't really know) The optimal use would be to place this somewhere hidden near a flag so you and your squadmates could all spawn if they/you die.

No by default you can always spawn on your SL when he's walking around or in a vehicle that's not already full. When you deploy the beacon it replaces that ability and just makes one perminent spawn which makes you pod in from the air unless deployed inside the titan or building.

It's a tiny little device that sits on the ground. It acts as a beacon so your squad mates can drop in via drop pods from the sky.

So your entrance is very visible.

Also, the beacon emits an audible sound that an enemy can hear if he's close, and he can either destroy the beacon or camp it and nail anybody that pods in. ;)

I seemed to have trouble spawning in on my SL last night, when he was not dead or in a vehicle. There was just no green dot anywhere on the map (and no red one either), just the gray spawn dots.

sorry for an ovious question, but just making sure you know.

If you don't see the green symbol on the map for your sl, make sure he is alive. If he's been dead for a while he will not show up anywhere on the map. Sometimes SL's don't jump back in the game.

edit, nevermind just read you said he was not dead. Must be another bug. I'm not suprised. You sure you weren't bumped from the squad maybe?

Yes it does, It then spawns you at the beacon which is stationary. ;)

Should be at the very bottom of your equipment list, scroll through until you see it then push "fire" to deploy it but make sure you deploy it in a place where it's accessible to pick back up, convenient for your squad to spawn in at and hidden so the enemy doesn't see it.

You only need 1 other person in a unit to use the SLSP. Having it though is a sure fire way to keep squad members. It shows you're serious about being SL and not just doing it because no one else wants to. ;)

Oh and one other thing, it CAN be placed INSIDE titans. I was spawning inside one, on one of the upper(indoor) balconeys. Now that's some smart pod navigation!
