View Full Version : Why does EA DOWNLODER opens when I start BF2142 ?

Did anybody noticed that odd thing ? Just weird........that I have to close my EA DOWNLOADER while the game is loading....hmm who knows

Its on the EAD site, It is like steam.

This also stems for the reason why we cant use xfire in game quite yet...Our main BF2142 icon instead of being bf2142.exe it is bf2142pace.exe.....But if you look at the shortcut to run bf2142 its actually the launcher opening it....In this case EAD is kinda like a no cd crack for our game....

And hopefully EAD won't become as buggy as steam is/was. (haven't used it in a while so idk how it works anymore)

I think it's checking your copy of BF2142 for authenticity. OR as some have already stated in other threads, it is the alternative to having the CD in the drive. It's loading those files necessary in order ot the start the game. Just like if you have the CD in, start the app, once its started you can usually take the CD out and it will run fine. That's probably why you can just close EAD while starting.

just change the path Xfire goes to for 2142

i have been using x-fire in game. What is the xfire issue you are talking about?

Same thing I encountered. I figured that Xfire only was set to detect "BF2142.exe" running, so I checked the "xfire_games" notepad in the directory. It has both! BF2142.exe and BF2142pace.exe. Regardless, I still can't get Xfire to realize that I'm playing 2142. :confused:
