Robert Walsh, CEO of Krome Studios (http://www.kromestudios.com/), recently sat down to talk with IGN (ign.com) about the upcoming title Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Take a look:
IGN: Wii fans know Krome specifically from you work on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where you're in charge of the PS2 and Wii versions of the game, but there's more to the Krome Studios story. Where'd the company get its start?
Walsh: This year we're not only doing Force, but we're also doing Clone Wars, which is a Wii-only title. We were founded in 1999, and there were five of us originally. Over the last seven or eight years we've grown to just over 350 now. We have three studios; one is Brisbane, one in Melbourne, and one in Adelaide. Brisbane is currently our largest, and then the Melbourne office we took over just a few years ago, which was originally Atari Melbourne House. That's the five second version, at least, haha.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed kicks off a new relationship between LucasArts and Krome. Hopefully it's one that's long-lived, as Force Unleashed kicks a whole lot of ***.
IGN: Nice. So when plotting out a game, do you have specific teams in specific areas, or do you have multiple teams spanning regions, or even multiple teams within one region? What's the breakdown?
Walsh: There are teams within each region, so for example the PS2 Force Unleashed was done in Brisbane, while the Wii version was done in Melbourne, and the PSP was done in Adelaide.
