Why no advanced ranks?

I miss the advanced ranks, it gave me a bit effort to get them. And i loved when you were higher then someone with the same amount of points. Now Sergeant Mayor of the Army has no meaning. It was a great rank, only one guy in the whole Bf2 game could have it. Quite a prestation if you got it...

He means that in BF2 only 1 person could have Sergeant Mayor of the Army now everyone can.

Yeah but it was fun having to get certain badges for same point req ranks to get a slightly nicer looking rank insignia/title. Oh well.

Actually, I remember reading the highest rank in BF2142 is Supreme Commander an only one person can have it.

And there are several higher ranks that only a certain amount of people can have at one time.
