Gameworld Network (http://www.gwn.com/reviews/gamereview.php/id/1047/p/1/) has recently posted thier review of Battlefield 2142. They have given the game an 86/100. They emphasize that although it may look similar to some, it is still loads of fun. Here is a small part of the review:
Battlefield is back, baby! I am, quite simply, in love with this game. And, the thing is, I have to say that there’s not a helluvalot (yes, that’s a word) to love here that we haven’t loved on in the past. Battlefield 2142 is, for all intents and purposes, Battlefield 2 kicked into the 22nd century. The game plays pretty much the same as the Battlefield we have come to know and love, with the addition of futuristic weaponry and vehicles. The question is, is this a bad thing?
I think not.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, they say. And they’re usually correct. Other outlets have been pouring the hate onto Battlefield 2142 in their commentary lately, whether it’s the “spyware” issue that reared its ugly head (the game includes a form of tracking software in order to deliver in-game advertising – EA’s reply to critics was a form of “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it or install it”) or simply because it's usually cool to hate on EA. Game Informer, for example, called the game, “a $50.00 mod,” yet named it their PC game of the month and gave it a pretty good rating overall. Go figure.
