well you could unlock up to the shotgun since the items in that tree are useful anyways and use a field upgrade to try the shotgun out before you unlock.

There's a thread with a highlight video of it. Im not support, but everything I've read here about it is universally positive. I'll be probly be unlocking that tree in support when I've finished Assault.

Search is your friend;)
The video mentioned is in a thread called I think I'm in love.
The Clark is an excellent close to medium range weapon. One shot kills are possible if you aim for the head.
Reload time is slow and you have less than 8 rounds, it has no zoom function and it is a single shot weapon (not even semi auto:()

It's an awesome weapon. You will not be unhappy with it, promise.

I got to try it once after being revived and getting some other guy's kit. It's pretty solid and feels satisfying, even if you miss the shot. Shortly thereafter I was killed. Still, seems like a good gun, especially if you enjoy close quarter urban combat and put a special emphasis on the Support class.
Anyone else noticed the shotgun has a scope?

I don't consider it a scope, just a glass/plastic sight. I did expect it to be usable, however, when I first equipped the gun and saw it.
I really don't have a prob with a lack of zooming on the gun. The steady, non-expanding target reticule works fine for me. Great, actually. And with its limited range I’m not too sure what I would be zooming at anyway.
For me it's all about closing distance, not sitting still and picking people off.

The LMG owns it.

It doesn't zoom, seems more dependent on your ping than other weapons, sometimes it takes people down in one or two shots and sometimes it acts like you're not even hitting them, this is my experience with it in Titan mode while defending either side of the observation decks above the cargo area, extremely close quarters combat so it wasn't a range to target issue.

Try using it on a conquest map, like Cerebre landing or Gibraltar.
Titan battles can do wonky things to every weapon's perfomance, at least the laggy Titan battles I've been in seem that way.
AMAZING.
It doesnt seem like it would be usefull at all considering the quality of support guns, but this gun is a masterpeice.
1 - 2 shot kills, unlimited ammo as support, it takes a few shots at range but you can still kill people medium range away.
Its the only gun that looks realistic too and is my favorite.
For a while I didnt like it but then I learnt how to use it. ended up getting 3 shotgun pins that round, a total of 170 points for one normal round.

I'll agree with that.
When it does work it's most satisfying, otherwise it’ll leave you extremely frustrated and possibly with a purple heart award to boot.
