I might unlock the shotty just to get extra pins. Every 10 kills on your own titan = 20 for defend pin + 20 for shotty pin + 10 for kill score + 10 for defend score. So, using the shotty you get 60 points per 10 kills on your titan. Pretty good deal if I say so myself! That's not including the kill streak pins if you get them.

Let's say you go tanking until your shield goes down, netting you about 20-30 points. Then, you get on your titan with the shotty and defend, getting 20 kills. 20 + 120 = 140 pts per round.

Hell, after figuring this out, I'm DEFINITELY going to get the shotty!

2800 more points and it's mine , actually less because of field unlocks. Wow I'm really pumped now (heh, yes that was a pun)

Conclusion:

Unlocking the shotty will net you about 200 extra points per 10 rounds (~5hrs of gameplay) in pins if used to defend your titan.

edit: shotty pins are only 10 pts. per, so I guess it's basically just ensuring you get a kill streak pin..oh well. Still, it may be easier to get shotty pins than explosives or kill streaks...

Atleast you can pretend you're playing Halo with the shotty.. :laugh:

Most games I've found that the number of people attacking will wither down to nearly nothing pretty quickly if the console corridors are lamed up defense wise (like they are pretty much every game) It mostly just beomes a silo chase and unless you are actively running around the vents and cargo bay for those few stragglers who do come in every so often you won't get as many points as you think you will.

I am a shotgun defender by the way, so I'm speaking from experience. You don't get as many titan defense/close combat pins as you'd like to hope for most of the time. Especially if you suffer heavily from the titan "lag"...like I was one game where I couldn't even move 5 steps without teleporting back a bit, and the enemies were all doing the same. I had a knife fight going for several *minutes* because of it.

Whoa. No way! :)

I like the shotgun lots, its sometimes bad when you shoot someone and it seems the shots go through them and does no damage

I dunno, I find that the Vos is a better main weapon to use in the Titan. One of two things occurs in Titan mode, you either have a Zerg rush of ten-twenty troops, or you have five or so guys every few minutes. A spray weapon tends to do better than a shottie, at least in my opinion.

Isn't it 10 points per shotgun?

Anyway, you didn't mention that the LMG is a lot better at killing than the shotgun ;) therefore you must take into account that you get more kill streak pins.

IMO the best way to use the shotty would be to pod up to the back of your own titan. If you just sit down at the end of a hall defending, then yeah, the LMG is going to do that job better.

btw can somebody verify the amount per shotty pin? (with a SS preferably)

The best way is to be support with shotty. Respawn and pod to the vents. Spam grenades on the largish first assault party. I got about 5-10 kills treak and Titan Defender badges
