BattleDirector v1.0 Released

Sir. Elxx of the Sir. Community (http://www.sircommunity.com/) is back today with his latest creation, this time a tool for all the Battlefield movie makers out there. Here's what he had to say about BattleDirector's first release:

BattleDirector is an application for Battlefield 2142 movie directors. It streamlines the moviemaking process by allowing filmmakers to go from BFR to AVI in simple steps. The simple GUI provides all the tools you need with one-click access.

Feature Overview:
• The main app window displays all loaded BFR files
• One-click access to the following functions without having to modify any files:
- Play Demo with freely movable camera
- Record camera track for the demo
- Watch a recorded camera track
- Delete the recorder camera track
- Render the BFR to a full-quality video file
- Render accompanying audio for the video
- Watch the generated video and audio
• Change running resolution, FPS rate, and field of view
• Select a custom profile for rendering
• Full support of all current and upcoming BF2142 mods
• Automatically hides the HUD when filming
• Remove Nametags option

Or, right-click the desktop shortcut, and click Properties. Go to the Shortcut tab and change the "Start In..." field to the location of your BD installation. Default is this:
"C:\Program Files\The Sir. Community\BattleDirector\"

All I know is that our server (unranked) has it and it works 100%. You're welcome to bring your friends to that server anytime.

Ask if you're not sure. We're usually pretty lenient on the TS thing, but it's highly recommended that you do get on our TS when you play - that way you won't get banned ;)

I tried to download a battlerecorder file immediately after a game, it failed, something about not being able to find the file on the server. Why?

This happens on a lot of servers. Basically, its where they have set the server up wrong, and it tells your client the file is somewhere it isn't.

Seriously, why can't they have the filter for battlerecorder servers work? They can have the server act as a client would, check that the file is being uploaded correctly, and if not, then unlist itself as a battlerecorder server. ffs.

demo.recordDemo nameofyourdemo

to start recording and

demo.stopRecording

Just in case you want to try some stunts or other stuff without beeing disturbed or knifed.

@Topic: I'm also not able to find any demo although the path is correct. Here are some informations:


I've installed BF2142 in another directory (E: instead of C: )

If I'm changing the directory to:

E:\Spiele\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\Demos

the Path for the BF2142.exe is also changed to this directory. I'm not able to to choose different paths.

No, your directory should be set to just E:\Spiele\Battlefield 2142\
And the path for the EXE is irrelevant, all it checks for is the name of it.

I will release a new version soon that sorts out this little hump and makes it easier to understand :)

Nope. Its only when your machine is the host or if you have rcon admin access.

Yes, the one on the screenshot is the directory I have my game in. Looks like I've got the same problem as Punkbuster (even after he changed it properly).

Awesome, after Senap (BattleLauncher guy) disappeared I was worried a BattleLauncher like program wouldn't show up for 2142 but here we go, thanks alot guys.

My only complaint is that the interface could be better.

Same Game here. It might be the firewall or the virus scanner. I think it's about 30% of the people experiencing that error. Others report that the function starts correct. I thought that it might be the:

"&&"

at the command line.

That's a good hint. The shortcuts work but they are expanded with commands:

+szx 1280 +szy 1024

cause BF2142 does not want to allow that settings ingame.
