A new announcement was posted up over on the official EA forums (http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?sls=2&tstart=0&threadID=139054) about the maintenance schedule that the Battlefield series follows. Take a look:

What are the maintenance times for Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, and Battlefield 2142? Why can't I connect or properly access Battlefield services during these times?

The Battlefield franchise has many moving parts, and at times needs to be re-synched, updated, or restarted to make sure that errors and issues with the service are avoided or repaired. Electronic Arts reserves the times listed below to perform maintenance on Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, and Battlefield 2142.

Standard Maintenance Window - Tuesday:
12 a.m. - 3 a.m. Pacific Time
1 a.m. - 4 a.m. Mountain Time
2 a.m. - 5 a.m. Central Time
3 a.m. - 6 a.m. Eastern Time

Emergency Maintenance Window - Thursday:
12 a.m. - 3 a.m. Pacific Time
1 a.m. - 4 a.m. Mountain Time
2 a.m. - 5 a.m. Central Time
3 a.m. - 6 a.m. Eastern Time

Although the maintenance windows are not necessarily used every week, if you cannot connect or have issues with authentication, statistics, buddy lists, servers, etc. during these times, it is likely due to some form of maintenance and you should try again after the maintenance period is over.

Nice to know EA are trying to do something to keep the servers bug-less and up-to-date. Shows that they are putting the effort in, for once. :P

GMT Plix :P

Greanich mean time/The meridian line.Runs from pole to pole.
Called greenich beacause it goes through greenich.
Time zero, Everything to the east goes one way everything to the west goes another.
A left over from British Empire. It's the place world time starts and finishes.

When you set up window and it asks you to set the time and location, the location you choose will have + or - time.GMT will be Zero.London...(By the way I spelled Greenwich wrong)

Call me crazy, but wouldn't Emergency Maintenance be a higher priority and thus scheduled ahead of routine maintenance? Not performed two days after routine maintenance...

That's so if during their "Regular Maintenance" window they break something, they have two days to fix it before their "Emergency Maintenance" window...

Thanks, but I did hope that the rolleyes indicated that I, and indeed the rest of the world, knows what GMT is and how their own timezone relates to it. :)

Which is why I think it is rather arrogant for an international company to give that kind of information as some obscure timezones known to nobody outside the USA.

Good, I have important classes on Tueday and Thursday, so I won't be catching any disturbance while maintenance is being done.

Stick in GMT as well will ya. I can't be bothered fannying about adding or subtracting 5-9 hour or whatever. Oh yeah, and don't forget Zulu time for us military types either.

Europe, it's that huge land mass where most of your ancestors come from. Scotland, yeah that's in London and you can see Paris from my bedroom window. We're far more important and considerably richer than you. Now, I'm just off to take a dump in the moat, burn some catholics and take afternoon tea for my elevenses...
