View Full Version : Titan Mode Rules

I realize that people get lag/glitchy graphics when Titans are moved, but I've been on countless servers with "MOVING TITAN = KICK/BAN" rules. Doesn't this violate the ROE or EULA? It's just like saying a commander will get banned if they use air/armor assets. Well, I was kicked today for moving a titan because apparently I didn't see that rule. Should I report these guys? They gave me a lot of attitude about it and threatend to ban me. As it is they told me that if I come back to play, and I am a commander, it's an instant ban. What should players do in cases such as this? They can't enforce rules like that because they're playing on mommy's Celeron 1.2 with 512mb ram and it's laggy for them while the majority of us have no issues at all. Suggestions?

Here's what they say:
"Until the reporting system updates have been completed, please make all reports on the BFROE forums, and not here in these forums.

It's worth a try - moving titans is part of the game. They are designed to be moved and it serves a purpose. Sometimes it's not tactically smart to move them, but tactics is part of why it's the commander and not some grunt who is moving it.

Not moving the Titans AT ALL is kind of silly. Defeats the whole point of playing a Titan game.
Not moving when sheilds are down on one though, that I can agree with.

OKAY LET ME TELL YA. I have 2 gigs of ram. amd 64 3200, 6800 GT OC 256mb. When the titan is moving I easily lose 15-20 frames per second, and on 48 player titan servers occasionally it can get really bad. Your right in saying that it does violate the rules. I hardly think I have an ancient system, but my processor could use an upgrade. No you shouldnt report them because the next patch they are disabling titan movement when shields are down. It'd be a waste of your time to write out a report as I've seen it on 4/5 servers I go on anyways.

where did you see this?
I can and will only play Titan mode on servers that kick commanders for moving Titans, yeah it may defeat the point of the mode but hey... its not us that completely screwed up the mode to begin with. Titan mode and Conquest mode are like two different games, even with every setting one level lower and with half the people on the server i still get half the fps from conquest mode, so if they stop the Titans from moving its fine by me.
At the very least it is fair, both Titans have to stay still. No side gets an advantage to this and i can only hope they patch it so they stop once the shields are down, now this wouldn't solve my problem but it would help others, for me if both Titans are next to each other my fps goes to about 5 but thats just me. So as you can see these types of servers benefit people in my situation, and if you think reporting them is a good idea then I think you've got a screw loose... there are still pleanty of servers running that allow movement of the Titans.
Without this server rule i could not play Titan mode at all, i've accumulated about 50+ hours on 2142, and only 3 of them on Titan mode because of moving Titans.

My buddy called them and he was told that they are going to implement it in the next patch. And they would work it in as "massive power failure", but I have to wonder if its going to affect the front shields.. Maybe batteries lol :p

I could care less how they figure it, if this game has to lose a tid bit of realism for a great deal more balance then go for it.
Id say kick the laggers instead, pretty stupid seeing as moving titans is almost essential. Not our fault if people cant handle it.
I encountered it for the first time the other day, god its horrible though, I understand why but if it was that big of a deal they should just play conquest.

Well, that will be good if it happens. As for the front shields, I doubt they will change. In the beta there were no front shields and it was camping heaven. They fixed that.

Yep and people do that, such as me. Though don't forbid us from having a few servers dotted around that don't allow Titan movement.

Personally, I hope they don't simply make the Titans not move. Without the moving ships, there's very little tactic to the game, and it's simply conquest with bonus points.
People, hold DICE/EA to fixing the problem, not simply making a game neutering dodge.

well that would make sense, i mean not having to power the shields because they are down? so the power just turns off. and can't goto movement. i would expect that to be true if EA/DICE coded it ;)
if anything the ship shouldn't be able to move when the shields are up as that would take alot more power than no shields.
i'll be happy either way. but i don't want some dumb story to go along with it. all the need to put is.
"made it so the titan can't move when the shields are down"
it's a game, not storytime :)

True true, i was shocked with my score on Titan mode tbh, i've accumulated 12k career points on conquest mode since release and now i understand how people have 30k+ points already... meh i prefer it hardcore anyways. Conquest mode has the best maps anyhow.

Hope it's true, it would solve tons of problems :)

Well thinking of it, maybe the power is diverted from the thrusters to the front shields (the spawn protection one) - and that's why it's stopping :)

Stopping the titans when the shields go down is a GREAT idea! Keeping people from moving the titans PERIOD though is not called for!
I know I would be reporting their ignorant asses if they threatened to kick/ban me for moving it! Because it IS against ROE by limiting how a vehicle can be used!
Whenever I command I do move the titan, but NOT across the whole map. I put it near a few silos to help out so people can pod out to other silos or use the underside guns on silos.
100% of the time that I command, the titan is already where I wanted it before the shields go down. I Never move it after that!

yea, just sucks when they are right next to each other. That would not be cool if that happened and then the shields went down and you can't move.
So if this happened and the shields went down on one Titan would the other still be able to move? or are they stopped too?
