Ok, I unlocked the basic 3 upgrade, up to lambert for recon, and up to baur for assualt(<3<3<3<3<3).
Now, I almost exclusively play city maps that have very few vehicles, but I would like to change it up sometimes.
So my question is, should I go support up to shotty? Cause that looks like a ton of fun plus the handheld uav thing seems like it would be insane! How much fun is it really though? And how terrible is the range on the shotty?
Now, I may go engineer just so that I dont get owned by vehicles so damn often. Which side should I go up though? Everyone says the Pilum is really powerful, but the entire left tree of eng sucks. How good are the motion mines? Cause I think I just wanna get the motion mines and emp mines so I can lay those down to take out the vehicles, as most of the maps I play only really have one side with vehicles.
Do the emp mines hurt vehicles? And how hard do the motion mines hit? Or is the pilum just ridiculously better then the default guns and I should get that regardless of the bad tree up to it?
Thanks for the input.

The shotgun is fantastic at close range and effective at medium range, perfect for city maps.
The Pilum is awesome against tanks and jeeps, not so much versus walkers and aircraft. The Motion mines are great for placing near a captured base, and they rip apart vehicles. The EMP Mines are good for bridges/chokepoints.
Personally, I would go with the engineer. First of all, there is a serious lack of engineers in the game at the moment. I can only see one or two per round. Secondly, engineers rack up large points in city maps because of the SMG and the rocket, since they are often the only ones in city maps with an AV weapon
Hope it helps!

Thanks. But do the EMP mines actually hurt vehicles?
Also, should I just get the emp and motion mines or the pilum? I am thinking the emp and motion mines are alot more helpful then the pilum is gonna be on maps like fall of berlin, im thinking I can just toss motion mines down and emp mines down and the mechs and apcs will pretty much blow themselves up. Whilst the pilum is just a more powerful rocket launcher that will still result in me getting torn to shreds getting it a place to use it.
How many motion mines do you get? And how many of em does it take to kill a tank apc and mech?
Basically, are the motion mines powerfull enough that I can just lay em down maybe with some emp mines and know that vehicles are gonna be taken care of?
And is the Pilum SIGNIFACANTLY better then the defaults?

EMP mines do not hurt vehicles, they just disable them for a few seconds.
Since the Motion mines and EMP Mines are on different unlock trees, I would say get the one that comes with the Pilum (EMP I think).
You get 4-5 motion mines. I think it takes 3 to take out an APC/Tank, dunno about walker.
If you leave all 4-5 motion mines on a flag, you will get at least one guaranteed kill, if not more.
The Pilum is not significantly better, but it is defiantly useful, and can actually be used against infantry

Emp mines and motion mines are on the same tree. Nothing good on the tree for pilum.
I am thinking getting the mines, as I would like to be able to just drop the motion mines on the road or at a flag to help guard it.
How long the motion mines stay there? forever?

Wow haha, sorry for the misinformation
Then yeah, if you want to focus on defense, definitely go with the mines tree. Plus, you get a shiny anti-air missile system :D

Forever AFAIK until you plant more than 5, which makes the earlier ones disappear, or they blow up.
PDS on the Pilum tree is good. Plonk it on your vehicle if you're using one. Makes great recon.
Also, Roller Mines are wonky. I've been killed twice with ONE roller mine that hits the FRONT while I'm sitting in my tank which has FULL LIFE.

The EMP mines dont damage, it just stops em cold. Thats when you pump a rocket or 2 into em.
You get 5 or 6 motion mines. They can do some serious damage if your whole cluster gets a tank or walker. 1 or 2 will waste the little jeep things. The thing is they have to be moving, If the driver bails they will stop tracking the vehicle.
I get a few kills from mines that I layed down on the other side of the map, but I think the trick with Engineer class is to use all the tricks in your bag. Lay out a couple EMP mines in the inroads, further in toss down some motion mines at the roadsides, then another EMP mine. Now take a position where you can see the first mine and wait with your rocket launcher. Incoming tank hits EMP mine, while sizzling you nail em with a rocket and take cover, that ticks em off and they come charging in, only to get blasted by the motion mines, if that doesnt finish em off they hit the next EMP mine, thats when you step out and deliver the coup-de-grace with another rocket.
It's a beautiful thing when it all works out... :)

Yeah thats kinda what I was thinking of ^^.
This kinda got into engineer discussion though, anyone have input for the shotty?

Hehe, my specialty. I have over 120 kills with this baby.
First of all, it dominates close quarters, no question about it. It is a 1 hit kill up to 10 meters I believe, and you can even snipe with it. If you ever played BF2, its alot like that, with a slightly slower firing rate.
Also, do not use it when assaulting a moving titan. The shotgun bug (which has been around since BFV), screws with the buckshot coding, causing direct hits to do no damage whatsoever even though the weapon-hit indicator appears.

I just unlocked the shotty. Last one I needed for Support. I already had the whole left side, which is good until you get to the Ganz. Not a fan of that weapon. But the A-12 Enforcer Sentry Gun is worth the unlocks. Just stop there and go to the right. Or if you go just for the shotty on the right tree, you can't go wrong. The pulse meter + Clark = Ownage! Just check out thr's video if you don't believe me....http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6060
I havn't used it too much, but so far I am happy with it. Especially in closer combat.

Shotty is ownage as long as server / titan isnt lagging the hell out of you.
Engineer I will go for Pilum first thats for sure, the faster reload, faster projectile speed, and 0 need to be guided is huge advantage (e.g. in APC faceoff ;p), Vehicle detect (that can be sticked to anything) is way useful, especially when using armor, pick up anything in the detecting range and just go straight at it for a kill / or avoid it.
