The guys over at Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com/) have had the chance to talk with EA Link lead Chip Lange. Here's a portion of the article:

Gamasutra: So this is a refined version of [the formerly named] EA Downloader? What's new?

Chip Lange: Yeah, I would say it's a completely rebuilt version of the EA Downloader. The biggest things I think you'll notice is that the user interface has been redesigned, from top to bottom, so it's a completely different graphic look and feel. It's a completely different navigational process that we've tested over the last three months, in order to make the purchase process easier, and easier to organize all the content.

Interesting. The EA Link created two cd key faults, one clientside and one by punkbuster, and deletes all cached game files, yet neither are mentioned in this golden oportunity interview. Nice.

Interesting. The EA Link created two cd key faults, one clientside and one by punkbuster, and deletes all cached game files, yet neither are mentioned in this golden oportunity interview. Nice. Was thinking the same thing, heh. Can't even log into EA Link now, even after trying some of the suggestions on this forum. In the future, maybe they should make big upgrades like this into a separate program from something (like EA Downloader) that works. Or at least run some better tests before releasing. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the suggestion, but already tried (if you're talking about d/ling original EA Downloader). Plenty of others w/ same log in issue who can't get in, and apparently, it's on EA's side of the aisle. Could be a 24-48 hr wait...http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8363

constant microsoft error reports, constant crashing of the game, the biggest thing that I have noticed???? It doesnt work!!!! The fact that the game relies on this POS of a program is beyond me. I want to just install the game and uninstall EA link, but thats just not possible. Never again will I buy through this program again.

In my opinion... EA Link update == the NGE update that happened to SWG.

Both were forced on the end-user, appeared rushed out the door and unfinished/bugged to ****.

PS: I'm currently effected by the no-login EA Link problem. And I no longer play SWG

Hey!!!! I'm connected!!! 7:54 EST (Nov 1 06)

Exited to copy my cache files back in. (tried uninstalling after copying out the cache folder.. and it took 5 minutes to log in again. Trying to re-install now. 1st attempted crapped out while I was at work.

W00T. Installer is running!

W00T. Installer is running!Same here, i.e. EA Link seems to be working now. If you're having problems like invalid cd key, etc., like I did after the EA Link started working again, Jofaba's blog seems to be the best place to go to find the answers to these EA Link issues: http://www.jofaba.com.

btw, I am in no way affiliated w/ Jofaba, I just found all the answers I needed related to EA Link in one place, instead of spread out over several threads. Hope that helps.

And would you look at that... an update to EA Link. (Ver. 3.0.0.33)

Hmmm.... I wonder what the ChangeLog looks like.... I wonder if we will ever see it.

At least I get to have my butt kicked with Talus again tomorrow (He kicks butt, mine gets kick (not by him!), Talus R0cks! <G>).

Nice they mention how they organized everything.

They also mention that they made it a lot faster in broadband speed and actually uses my broadband connection of 1MB/s. Seriously my broadband connection is faster than my DVD drive now basically.

Also can use Pay Pal now.
It provides auto-patch technology so hopefully we will not have to deal with the current patch system and move to something live like on steam where they can reverse a patch within seconds of release.

They also make it easier for you to advertise your product in there and interact with developers more.

Quote:"We want to make sure that with our titles, we get it really right, first. We feel like this is a major step forward. "
Seems like they want to step up their process of interacting more with their products and be more responsive; especially responsive in the market aspect with their user experience using EA Link and developers.
