Posted over at the official Battlefield 2142 (http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf2142/PreMainNav.aspx?lang=us&menuitemurl=default.aspx) is a support section which has some helpful tips for each of the classes among other areas of the game. Here's are a few of the tips you can find:
Hug walls and use obstacles
This means when you are advancing on an opposing position keep close to walls and use rubble for cover. These will provide you an amount of cover if you find yourself under fire.
Go prone when advancing a blind corner
Hitting the ground will reduce your silhouette. The smaller your silhouette, the less likely you will be seen coming around the corner.
When a Recon shoots run for cover
When a sniper takes a shot at you, remember that it takes time to reload the next round. This is the perfect time to run for cover instead of dropping to the prone position.

Pretty basic tips that any BF2 veteran would already know, but useful for new players I suppose.

*either that or you'll rubberband off them like mad or youll get jammed on it*

*this would work if you didnt have a big red name above you*
When a Recon shoots run for cover
When a sniper takes a shot at you, remember that it takes time to reload the next round. This is the perfect time to run for cover instead of dropping to the prone position. *if he misses the first shot then hes not a very good sniper so shoot back*

Don't play between server maintenance times, as EA will shut down their "master" server and cast pwnage among the masses.

I tend to disagree with the "go prone everytime you see and enemy" sort of thing for two reasons: since going prone reduces your cone of fire, you may get hit less but you wont hit him either. Secondly, going to crouch and coming out of it requires much less time and gives almost as small a target.

lol......loving this edit.
Quick tip.....Assault class......in close combat (which is most maps) use your defrib tool to bring your team back to life & at the same time use the defrib to kill the opposition......its a good way of killing them.....it only takes one shot-DEAD!! and the range is good too.
*If your squad are close and are in the thick of it......you'll all stay alive and the opposition will be sucking eggs!!

This pin is not available in the alpha version of the game, it was in the beta but not working right. The survival pin is/was/will be gained when you attack an enemy titan, destory the core and escape before it blows.
Maybe available after Novembers patch. WE HOPE..............LOL :D
Check this link for the info.

If you have any firewalls, you might want to disable them.
