My friend and I are having that exact problem. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Yeah i got the same error, i thought it was my internet (i;m using the wireless one in my house right now, not the fastest or most reliable) but it seems to be a registration issue.

I wouldn't mind a free xfi card or new speakers:D

I have a yahoo, so most of the crap gets tossed in a "bulk" category, where i basically click it, select all and DELETE!;), so spam isnt a huge deal w/ my email.

ha .. it that to counter the bad "press" (*cough* posts) about the bad performance of their cards in BF?

ha .. it that to counter the bad "press" (*cough* posts) about the bad performance of their cards in BF?

It's rare for me to concede here, but I really do think that the XFI problems, or "bad press" as you call it, is actually pretty... rare. Maybe that's because only a percentage of people actually have XFI card's here, but I experience nearly every issue that comes up in everything besides XFI card peformance.

I'm pretty happy with my XFI peformance. You really can't argue with the quality you get for only a hundred bucks. I'm not a brandwhore but now that I think of it, Creative really does have pretty solid products. I'm still using the Creative I-Trigue 3300 speakers and sub that I got about 3 years ago and, while they're top heavy and fall off my desk EVERY DAY (annoying, but another proof of their quality to stay alive considering the impact and that the 3 cones on each speaker has been exposed for 3 years) they sound great.

The XRam isn't really fully supported, and adds significantly to the cost of the card, but given a choice between a card with " no* " Xram and one with it, I'd take the one with it.

And finally, to those who think the "spam" isn't worth entering the contest, I can only suggest that you enter the future here with the rest of us who have multiple email addresses for different purposes. My hotmail is my spam. My yahoo is my "interested registry and corporate contact" email. My Gmail is for sites that don't accept Yahoo or Hotmail but are okay with Gmail, and my personal website is for sites who don't accept "free" email addresses (okay, well Tweakguides is the only site I've run across with that limitation that I bothered to register that one with). Besides, the more email addresses you have, the cooler the girls (or boys, as the case may be) think you are.

*XFI Cards without the Xram advertised still reportedly have a few megabytes of Xram to handle the signature quantity of voices. It's possible that the "problems" or distortion some people complain about in 2142 is actually caused by the fact that there isn't enough Xram to handle the sounds, or the game is specificially optimized, whether necissary or not, for the higher volume Xram models.

EDIT: Just entered. I actually think I came up with a pretty good one. It's a little long but creative.

I had no problem submitting a caption and entering my info...

really? I have tried several times and it brings up an error every time. I have all the spots filled out, even the optionals, with the proper country, age group, etc, and I even tried selecting both the terms of agreement check box and the newsletter check box, just to see if that made a difference, but nope, it hasnt. Anyone know why?

There is no actual "United States" selection, just a generic "Americas" tab, which when you try to submit prompts you to select a country.

There is "United States of America" though.

So I guess today is the day they decide on a caption? I'm looking forward to the winner being picked so I can share my caption and see what others submitted. I hope y'all remember your submissions so you can share them!

I finally figured out why I was getting that error. It was because I had quotation marks in my submission.

Jofaba

I had qoutation marks in mine and didn't get an error.

*checks to see if they've updated with a winner yet*

EDIT: Nope. nice "weekly" contest they're running there.
EDIT2: Maybe its "every other weekly"

Apparently Creative has updated the picture for a new contest, but they still haven't picked a winner yet for the last two images. I've never seen a contest handled this way by a large company. What's up Creative?!

The incredible sound quality of their XFi cards has erased all memories of the contest, it seems. I declare myself the winner of all future drawings.

This is the best contest ever. We're at the end of week four and week two's winner hasn't been announced. I'm guessing Creative's promotions department contracted SARS a couple of weeks ago.

What's up with this? It looks like they got sick of reviewing entries and just gave up. A message on the site now declares that the contest is over, despite never announcing a winner for Week 3. I guess they just wanted our email addresses. Good thing I provided a fake one.

With only two posts that isn't much of a complaint thread. I'm waiting, personally, untill tomorrow. At that time they are in violation of their own terms and conditions, and will have to answer to inquiring parties (of which I will be one).

I sent this email to Creative:

I am writing in regards to the Battlefield 2142 screenshot contest. According to the contest rules/terms & Conditions, all winners were due to be announced no later than Nov 30, which is 1 day shy of 2 weeks after the contest ended (the rules stated that winners would be chosen on or around 1 week after it ended. Waiting until 2 weeks is a violation of that rule). It's now 1 day after the violation and there is still no mentioning of further announced winners on your website.

I'm not just writing for me. I'm writing for several websites which participated in this contest and are waiting for answers. Please respond with the reason for delay. Thank you.

I sent a letter to EA, since they're the ones paying money for these promotions.

However, it's seems that all these efforts are paying off, because they've just uploaded the week 3 results! See below:

http://www.soundblaster.com/contests/battlefield2142/welcome_end.asp

I personally thought my suggestions were funnier than these picks, but everybody says that about their own entries. :p Week 4 announcements and grand prizes, come soon!
