Sorry, but it's really crap video.
it's just a cheap knife frag video, all the knifing in the video is just backstab on people who aren't paying attention.

What happens to me all the time, is some guy sprinting and then proning and knifing me in one hit - some people know where to aim etc, that's what you need to see in a knifing tutorial not this cheap crap.

Yes, start sprinting then hold the knife button, right when you let off, you'll swing.

I have no idea how he does the slicing maneuver, I tried to figure it out on SP but to no avail :( .

i believe his slicing maneuver is something simular to how cod2's bash works, if you spin while the bash animation is in mid action it could hit multiple people or had a better shot at hitting a person in the path of the swing. An arc of effect basicly, not sure if thats actually how the attack works in bf2142 but i'm guessing thats what he means.

I am a complete n00b knifer, I'll admit it. But even I got the Silver Collectors Badge. The trick is, use the mobile UAV squad leader unlock, and get your arse on a city map :D

Best kit to use is Recon with Light Armour (so you can catch up with people who run away!)

He does seem pretty good, but I don't see any difference between the different maneuvers.
In all of them, he approaches a target from behind or behind/side uncloaked, or directly while cloaked, and stabs them. Pretty much the only way to get knife kills without cloak is flanking and sneaking, so the 'different maneuvers' are a bit useless IMO.

AFAICT, there are 2 options.
1. He sees you, and you stab him.
2. He doesn't, and you stab him.

Just missed by gold knife badge by a lag's breadth. 16 kills, lags right before i kill no 17 then the round ends. I was more than a little upset :cussing: :cry:

I've been trying on gibraltar, but since my abruptly ended killing spree, I can't seem to get more than 12. Anyone, got any tips or advice? Which map, mode or kit for example. Other than what's covered in the vid.

yea this movie didnt really tell you how to aproach a knife battle just basic stuff and if anything it shows how iffy the hit detection can be like his so called slicing manveur allowing him to hit a target way outside of his hit cone

Yep, there are still issues with hit detection in BF2142. While I don't have the best aim I have noticed taking out opfor when the first thing in my mind was "that hit him?"

Gets especially bad when you are in a knife fight and both of your are bobbing and weaving around. At that point it feels more like luck of the draw than any sort of actual skill involved.

Not trying to be an *** in the least, but the video is fairly weak. The one time his victim was aware of his presence, he got taken out. The rest was just a nice piece of stealth work against some questionable talent.

Not sure I've ever been in a server with that many people completely unaware of their surroundings.

BTW, his "slice manuever" is simply the same thing as the hit detection video someone else posted. He aimed for the trailing edge of the enemy and got the kill....instead of aiming for center mass or leading as common sense would dictate.

The "slice" crap he's saying is just the same thing as "pulling your shot" with the AWP in CS. If you pull the shot/follow though with your aim the hit area has a better chance of registring as a hit serverside. How/why that is physically possible, dont ask me.

When you get in a knife fight with someone, dont charge straight at people, i love when they charge straight at me, and bam i slice their face or chest open right when the reach me. Walk in circles, not forward, mostly ever, just walk around in circles, or backwards, wait for him to make his move, unless your pretty sure you can get him. The prone knife thing in my veiw and exp so far is useless, they jump right down in front of me while i move backwards, miss, and then i walk around quickly and knife them in the back, before they get up or turn. I have won 5vs1 knife fights, when your with multiple targets, Keep your space from the others, and go for one guy at a time, if he runs back, go for the guy closest to you, or behind you, and make sure you wont get knifed from behind, looking around a lot is very helpful.

Its just like a jedi, but rly, this works, i basically do same. I just hate when comes to knife fighting, so i just grab my pistol and get the bastid b4 he realizes i don't have my knife anymore, just depends on how skillful i see the opponent is. "Don't fight battles you can't win".
