Most of us seems to believe that the Gunship TV-missile is absolutely uncontrollable, so I decided to make this guide which shows how to get some practice offline.
Step 1: Create a local server Game with the Map for Titan on Minsk
Step 2: Spawn on the Titan as support, so you can resupply the missiles.
Step 3: Fly the Gunship to this location (Notice the minimap):

From the gunners view it should look like this

Step 4: Place a ammo box under the Gunship.
Step 5: Begin practising. The available target includes Tanks, Jeeps, APC and a couple of Assets.
From my own experience I would recommend not initally aiming for the target, but somewhere above and to the right. Then slowly curve the missile back.
To me that was a lot easier than then endless series of minor corrections.

I'll have to practice that way. The gunship just seems so useless now that you can't kill in one shot... Especially against walkers who can turn around and EMP you.

If anybody comes up with a good way to use the KEYBOARD to steer the TV missiles, I might be into that...
Oh, and I tried parking the gunship up there before even finding this thread and I found myself tipping over the edge 99% of the time ;)

:D
The trick is to land safely on the roof, and then inch forward in 3rd person view.

Hitting targets in Singleplayer is much easier than hitting them in multiplayer, not because u are fighting a bot, its because u have no lag... I can hit lots of targets with missile in SP but when i go MP its like learning to walk all over again :( anyway,i used to hate choppers/jets in BF2 so i am glad they are nerfed in 2142 :D

I've actually managed to hit some guys in the game with the tv. It all comes down to the pilot really and his flying style. With some guys you just have to let go of the idea even trying to do anything with the tv. But a clever pilot lets the gunner guy "practice" by hovering behind a target, because he knows that tv doesn't kill with one shot and after a hit they have easy pickings finishing off the wounded target. I think is a fair trade-off in gunship concerning the roles in the ship. Let gunner help you bringing down the machines by trying to give them the best shot opportunity and then you finish with missiles and let him worry about the infantry.
But the trick to guide tv is not to make too sudden movements. Once the missile is out of control then it's too late. It's really, really hard to make course adjustments once you have fired (because of the said sensitivity to over steer) your missile so try to place your shot directly to the target. Not like in bf2 you could fire and then adjust. In 2142 you have to aim like you hit with the aiming and never have to trust the adjustments. The best shots are those you don't have to steer at all.

I find the new guided missile system much easier than the old bf2 click spam one. Its all about making small movements to get the missile going in the general direction and then fine tuning it in. Leading moving targets makes it easier to minimise on making sudden corrections. It also helps to get used to the sensitivity of the missile.

One thing that I have found that makes controlling them easier, is to not adjust them right after you fire it. Let it travel a few meters before you even start to change it's direction. I am still not 100% with them, but if I am with a pretty good pilot, I hit about 75% of the time. A lot of those are nullified by active defense, but such is life.
If you hit them once with the TV missile, then the pilot goes in for his rockets, you can usually get one more shot off as he passes overhead. With a little luck, the vehicle will be eliminated.

Good idea, hadn't thought of practicing like that. Will try later.
On a sidenote: first time I was gunner I was Being Impressed by the pilot's flying skill so much I completely forgot I had those TV missiles. He got really upset with me because he'd always hover behind targets to allow me to get an easy shot and I just sat there thinking "Man, my machine gun can't hurt those vehicles, why are you forcing me to try anyway?" :D

Maybe the gunship should get some kind of locking system or at least a TV missile like BF2, it was NOT THAT hard to use.

i tried to use your method, but this time it is on a flat ground. and i can't even launch a missile on the gunner seat
it seems that the gunship drop launch their missiles
another thing i found out is that you can't set how you want your missile to launch...
anyway great tip:D
just a feedback for your tips...
