This is best used with the pilum but the standard AT rockets fine too.

Before entering a jeep, make sure your anti-tank weapon is equipped. Hop in and drive around until you see a tank. More often than not, they won't notice your approach and even when they do, they're unlikely to follow you when you zip right by them.

Anyway, simply drive into a position behind the enemy tank, switch to seat three, aim at the rear of the tank and fire.

If it doesn't kill in one hit, you can just reload and fire again.

If the tank turns around to see what's going on, just switch to first, turn on the nitro and zoom away.

If the driver bails, you can just switch to second and gun him down :)

ps. not as effective against mechs.

Use the function "F" keys at the top of your keyboard. F1 is usually driver's seat, F2 onwards are the passenger and gunning seats.

It would work much better if you have a teammate, preferably a squadmember whose particularly good at being behind the wheel, and a antitank who knows what hes doing. That way, there will never be a need for the car to ever stop moving.

A good hit and run driver should be able to do the following
-Can maneuver around perfectly and place his vehicle exactly where he wants it, even backwards
-Knows the map and terrain
-Have a plan on how to approach a particular area or enemy and has an escape plan in mind.
-See and avoid mines, as well as know popular chokepoints for them.
-Understand enemy vehicle strengths & weaknesses and exploit that to his advantage
-Fast reaction to avoid danger or adapt to sudden situation change
-Coordinate his driving with teammates
-Know when to slow down for his teammates to attack, and when to go fast to get the hell out of there

A good vehicle gunner/anti tanker should be able to do the following also:
-Can hit moving targets
-Knows vehicle weakspots
-Use vehicle radar
-Repair the car on the fly
-Spot potential threats for the driver
-Jump seats to use the car machine gun
-Drop motion mines
-Coordinate his attacks with driver

I can imagine it now, me and my buddy off joy riding and causing all sorts of mayhem. Surprising tanks from the rear, doing tight donuts around walkers while dropping motion mines, gunning down enemy troops in drivebys. Oh the fun we canl have.. :D

Would also help if the driver is support so the AT passenger never runs out of ammo :)

And the driver being a squade leader with the Acepter deployed.
Helps identify targets beyond visual range and can take out a soldier or two.
It follows the buggy 5 to 10 meters back at full speed.

You can get in the jeep with the drone depolyed? lol

Yep, I LOVE zipping around the map in an APC, recon drone in tow. I drive, Otus spots, and my gunner zeros in on hidden enemies with his mortar. :D

Can't you also toss mines/RDX out of the back of the jeep and out the sides of the transports? It'd be pretty cool to toss out 3 mines as you drive between the legs of a walker.

And add the third one to add to make a jeep a 3 kills in one shot for the tank driver. In theory this could/would work for buddies using the VOIP or given enough practise for a lone gunner. I for one try to hunt down jeeps while in tank because they usually try to run to flags to cap them.

I guess this would work more or less with practise.

Driver: Support SL with Recon drone deployed and adv. ammo (keeps everyone armed)
Gunner: Assault with adv. med (keeps everyone healthy) (No beacon so if friendlies are sniped, they can respawn on the vehicle)
Back: Engineer with Guided Rockets (or Pilum if preferred), motion mines, EMP mines, adv. repair tool (take out vehicles as suggested, repair FAV when necessary, keep friendly vehicles repaired)

What you get is the fastest ground vehicle in the game that can resupply, heal and repair everything it moves near, has decent anti-vehicle capability, decent anti infantry capability, and great escape capability.

This unit shouldnt be used for flag capping though - it must remain mobile at all times to remain effective, unless supporting some friendlies in a safe zone. One stray rocket or artillery strike and thats a prime-strike-force gone for 20 seconds.

@#1
I used to hunt down tanks and APCs in BF2 that way. :D
The sandbuggy was awsome for this, and now in 2142 it is even easier due to the booster the cars are equipped with.

this was just about the only good thing i could use a transport helicopter in bf2 for. fill it with anti tank squad members, let em respawn on u and watch as tanks and apc's die without knowing why. + it gets rid of the bloody tank on the edge of the island on wake island. :)

I approve of this thread.
Just need to find a Decent AT guy to do this with.
The jeep has and always will be my favourite vehicle.

Just wondering- can you pace the A-12 Enforcer Sentry Gun on top of a jeep, tank or any vehicle? It would be cool to drive while your sentry gun shoots enemies from the top of the car. It would be like having a friend sitting in the third seat :(

Kewl...

Once, I ran over 27 people in BF2 multiplayer! My BF2142 Multiplayer hit and run record is currently... 6... 15 in singleplayer, but that dosen't count...

I like road kills... I'm kinda cynical now, you might want to clear the forums... No, you wouldn't mind some nerve gas that melts ur skin off and makes your heart explode would you?

You can place medical and ammo hubs on vehicles. :D
Works wonders if you haven't unlocked the advanced versions.

Hooked up with a fantasitc driver and a sniper Engineer. I manned the gun and had an adv ammo hub so the engineer was constantly supplied. God we nailed 11 tanks, with mines and his AV. I got 9 softies thanks to the driver and the driver nailed 4 sofites on his own. Oh, the Engie can put his vehicle sensor on the jeep so we always know where the vehicles are around us.
However at high speed, nitro, doing a sharp turn wil cause it to pop off.

Does the advanced repair tool work? I have still not figured out if I have to get out of my jeep to physically repair that damaged walker. Or can I just drive close to it and let it repair automatically like in BF2?

Deesies

with the upgrade, you can repair near-by friendly vehicles from within your own vehicle.

I wasn't sure since I could not hear any repair sound, and also it seemed that the other vehicle's damage icon did not change at all. But maybe I just didn't notice.

Sorry to bump an old thread.. but road kills refers to actually running people over, correct?

Love the road kill so much I decided to make it my sig.
Check it out people!
Yes I know. It's very basic.
Cut and paste type stuff.
But it still cracks me up!

Check for the repair icon in right bottom corner. There's no animation, but you know that you are repairing if it's on and it goes away when the other manned vehicle / turret is in full health. The black and white wrench in middle of bottom screen indicates that you are being repaired.

and on the topic. I tried this tactic on minsk. Works well against nekomata, but I wouldn't try this on anything else if you are alone since it's a real rush with keys and all. I had no opportunity to try this out with a buddy.

Well, this tactic is all well and everything. But theres two tactics that beat it.

1)Instead of a jeep, use an APC so you can Emp the target for an easier shot. Plus you get more cover.

or 2)Put RDX on your bumper of your car, dive out before you are just about to ram the enemy vehicle and watch the pretty lights.

Yeah but you have to hop out to fire/drop mines... thus you remove the agility/speed factor.

It just depends on what youyre doing, ive seen many engineers driving APC, EMP, then hopping and then they use their pilum to take that tank, theres the jeep tactic, wich sound more likely in certain spaces, just depends on the situation.
Anyways, i love the jeep tactic, im off to use it rite now.
