View Full Version : Key to Stopping All Forms of Titan Defense!

It happens to all of us.

You are playing, and you finally manage to get the enemy's Titan shield down. Hopeful of winning, you land on the Titan to find either their entire team defending it like a mofo or 3-4 guys spamming rockets or nades. Here is a simple way to stop this

STEP 1:
DEFEND THE SILOS

STEP 2:
WIN

Some of you will probably say "Oh, it's not that easy," but it actually is. There are 3 possible outcomes of this tactic:
1.) You are able to get all or most of the silos, then you will eventually kill their Titan. Just defend them to death with armor and infantry.
2.) The enemy, realizing that losing all the Silos will treat them with defeat, leaves their Titan and comes back to the ground to engage you. You then go up to their Titan and destroy it.
3.) Your team sucks and you are unable to accomplish any of this.

Thoughts?

All well and good, but nothing beats rushing headlong into a barrage of spammed nades, now does it?

My thoughts are that you really wanted to prove a point so you hunted for a thread deep in the jungle that we know as the forum.

lol I ran in last night and toss a frag right in a guys lap and ducked down before he could repay the favor, I was quickly gunned down after the fact but I blew his pee pee off and that's what matters :)

You can get past the frag spammers it is just more difficult :) but anything worth having (their dead titan that is) is worth working for

No seriously! This has been addressed at length. You would do better to ressurect the dead thread.

Doesn't change the fact that your thoughts are not novel and that this topic has been discussed at length in several other threads.

And I might as well point out that the reason why the forum is a "jungle" is due in large part to redundant posts. If all conversations on a given topic were confined to their respective original threads then the forum would be far easier to navigate.

If I wanted to just continue capping silos, I'd be playing conquest. For me, the challenge of getting through the titan is what its all about.

I actually love when I'm playing against people who want to get the reactors like there's no tomorrow. I just defend the Titan or help keep the silos, it's a great strategy, a lot more effective (but maybe less exciting) than attacking the titan.

True, but it's annoying when you're the guy on the other team who watches his fellow squad members run into the machine gun fire just cuz they want a f*cking pin.

kepp it small scale in titan if u can, i for one find my teamamtes very annoying when there pusing me about and stuff, trying to revive but instead i get shoved into enemy fire.

Second, use right click on nade, hold it down, step out and release, better chance.

However ye, titan attack is pretty hard. i hate apm and packs in this position. again, when i get dmp and my teammates are too gay not to come kill the guy b4 he puts another down. arghghghgh.

bf2142 is frustrating.

What happens if the entire team goes for your titan while you are defending the silos. The consoles will do down pretty fast.

Perfectly sound logic. I love when command a team that understands this. I loathe commanding a team who doesnt

i love defending console one on the titan. nice long hallway and since i play support, all i do is toss the drone and put my shield up and i get at least 10 kills a game for that. plus i play with a recon friend to plant explsives and a assault friend to heal/revive. and it's very rare that anyone blows it up, but it does happen with a lucky grenade toss. but titan defense is alot of fun.

It doesn't matter if you do one or the other. What matters is that you have a significant numerical superiority in whatever tactic you pursue.

Sure, individual "skill" does play some role, but on the whole it's about the numbers and persistence.

Since both sides are so equal in capabilities (weapons, vehicles etc.) the "doctrin" to follow is that of the former Soviet Union - as best expressed by Stalin himself: "Quantity has a quality of it's own".

Imagine this: 20 players on your team EITHER focusing on
1) Taking and holding silos
2) Asaulting the enemy Titan

As long as this tactic is embraces at an early enough stage, a win is virtually guaranteed, noi matter how "l33t" the other team is on an individual basis.

The biggest hurdle in this game is to get people to focus on one strategy or another - mostly because the majority of players don't play to win the round, but to optimize their individual points.
