View Full Version : Titan Layout Too Limited

Now don't get me wrong, I am really loving this game, so it pains me to sound negative, but I do find that there really isn't enough to the Titan layout. It seems a shame that so little of the Titan is really used for the combat that always comes down to a couple of choke points.

So, what if EA opened up access to more of the Titan by attackers? I would love to see the whole thing open up, but if that's too much, at least open some of the rear corridor shields so that you could flank consules and the Reactor. Hell, I would even be down to shoot gunners out of the gunner seats in the hanger. It would be difficult to camp the area if people spawned in randomly around the hanger area, including the lower walkways. I would just like to have combat deeper inside the Titan and it would be interesting to pod directly into the hanger area and fight towards the Reactor from those passages.

I remember in the beta that you could get around the back of the core when the ground floor consoles were destroyed so you can come from behind.

I'm guessing it was changed because a lot of people camped around the corners of the exit shield, waiting for defends to come through to kill but it was better that then the horrible chokepoint campfest the titans are now.

Well instead of the front shields going down for consoles 3 and 4 the ones near the main shield that goes to the hangar would open up. Instead of the chokepoint campfest that it is now people would hide behind the shields and pop out throwing a nade or RDX pack.

Both shields going down might be an improvement but it might also make defending those two consoles near impossible.

I wish I had Beta'd and seen it as so. Would be better with more of the Titan open.

Just make stuff like RDX and APMs destroyable by nades, then we just need to worry about doing a mad dash through the corridor in between nade spams :)

(sure some LMG might mow you down, but at least you have half a chance, not like ATM where you need to dodge nades, LMG's, Sentries, APMS and that sneaky little fker with his RDX, just incase by some miracle your name is jesus and you manage to break afformentioned defence)

i really dont feel titans are big enough. obviously you cant have em too big as that would ruin gameplay. but i cant see something that small being such an effective transport. thoughts?

mebe go to halo size ships ^^

Ya, I wanna get into the guts and fight in the barracks, or the mess hall or blow away some noob sitting on the toilet!

I believe APMs at least can be "disarmed" by emp grenades.

lol, ye we all want to shoot some fat prick on the crapper. play golden eye 007 - officially the best game ever- until your 7.

emps should be better methinks, longer short circuits mayb - not so long on infantry please its stupid that it effects inf more than vehicles. ive always believed claymores should be shootable, it just makes sense.

I liked the beta1 layout better, you could get to the back areas after destroying console 1/2 and it was much more balanced than now.

Indeed, I'd like to see more rooms, shafts/vents, entry points, or overall larger network of rooms, halls, and crawl spaces to choose from, maybe even some extra cut off sections, say areas with alternate powersources to individual portions of the ship. Say you blow up a repairable mini-core to prevent the titan guns from working, and silence the ships "voice" announcing enemy entry and location, and maybe even wiping out the majority of the lights inside the titan, save the lights inside the core, and maybe some remaining backup lights or lingering flickering lights, turning it into a dark fire fight. This also possibly forcing the enemy to attempt to repair the mini-core, or at least detering their attention from one area to defend it so the halls around the main core doesn't become a cluster**** of nades and mines.

F**king awesome ideas about being able to disable some of the other titan capabilities!

If they had designed this game better, there would have been a larger homebase underground complex with more rooms etc. that held all the consoles.

This would allow for some more massive and interesting indoor CQB a la Tribes 2 (which this game kinda looks like anyway).

Then, when all the consoles were destroyed in the larger hombase complex, the force-fields on the titans would drop to allow access to the reactor. At that point in time, the Titan should stop moving alltogther.

Less lag, more fun fights = problem solved.

I think that you should be able to open the rear doors with explsoivs, the one on the bottom to get to the inside of the titan and the one on the top to get to the hanger.
