Battlefield 2142 v1.06 Hotfix

EA (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/battlefield2142/patch/9722.html) has recently released the Battlefield 2142 v1.06 patch, a hotfix for the v1.05 patch. This patch is intended to fix the client side crash on titan mode. Take a look:

Following the v1.05 Update for Battlefield 2142, some players have experienced crashes at the end of the round when playing in Titan mode. The crash occurs under a certain circumstance while the Titan explosion is taking place. Today we are releasing a hot fix, Update v1.06, which corrects this problem. No other changes are introduced in this Update.

Please remember that when installing Update v1.06 for Battlefield 2142 you must first exit the game. This also applies when downloading the Update through the EA Link.

Not sure you understand how the patching process goes. They have special teams (as in, volunteers, and I'm on one of those teams but I was too busy to test this patch. I'll probably be booted cause I simply don't have the time). Anyway, it's just regular gamers with a variety of hardware.

So I launch game and go to ea link. Hit patch 1.06 and it says I already have the patch. during the patching process.. Yes I hit the right one. Launch game.. You need the patch. Come here and dload from another mirror. and it works.. NICE job EA on youre new state of the art downloder..... not.

at least they came out with this fix right away instead of talk about for months. EA/DICE are showing some improvment. Now all they need to do is make sure their patch actually fixes some problems instead of creating new ones.

Have played about 1 hour without a CTD, and this is maps with more than 1 round per map on Titan, was never able to do that with 1.05, good work EA/DICE!!!

Maybe next time when they release 1.07, the patch will make everyone get an instant CTD and an hour later they will release a hotfix (previously prepared) and everyone will be like "good job DICE, real fast response to the problem, that's a major improvement" :p

I dont think that being this quick on a release is a good thing. They totally f****ed up 1.05 becasue of rushing it. And this speed only proves that EA doesnt test things.

Wow i cant believe EA actually did something right for once. But this really could've been avoided if they tested 1.05. Are there any new bugs in this patch? Seeing as how they probably didnt test it.

I'm getting problems now with the 1.06 patch as well. I played fine for a couple hours, but now I'm getting booted from every server due to Punkbuster error messages saying "Blocked O/S Privelages. 508:430"

I still haven't put the 1.05 patch for these reasons. As long as there are atleast 20 servers to choose from without the 1.05 patch, ill probably never load it in, not b/c ctd b/c I get those anyway but b/c of all the players complaining about there fps drop.

Did you cheked your modem when this appened?did you lose connection only to EA servers or to your ISP as well?

It only took 3-4 days because they probably forgot to put a 1 or 0 in the code. Now they need to fix:

Titan LAG
Wall Exploits
The retarded prone delay
CTD problems
etc.

Well I'm new here but I'm a bit of a BF veteran. I've been keeping an eye out here after all these patches came out and I'm having a lot of the similar problems other people are... CTDs, boots from the EA master server, lag on the titan and I'm pretty upset with all the stat padders getting to the top of the leaderboard (there are a lot of padders still further down the leaderboard that haven't been taken care of). With this latest patch 1.06 it seems to have gotten worse with the CTDs for me. I can usually only play a map or two and then it just crashes out. With the last patch 1.05 I would get the boot from the master server quite often but, if I was persistent, I could usually get into a server that would stick. It seemed to be worse with more servers available. Now I'm just not playing because I keep getting kicked out.

what have you tried to fix it?
what is you graphic card and what settings?

Sorry Muerte,but it has nothing to do with the computer I'm using. I haven't changed anything except patching the game and it was working semi normal before. But for your information anyways, I'm running it at 1024 X 768 on the lowest quality settings so I can get the game running the smoothest. The problem is the game itself just like it has been with two last patches. The CTD I am getting is happening completely randomly, sometimes during map load and sometimes just in the middle of the game.

edit: I just tried again and forgot one error: CTD with error message "memory.dll sanity check" then some memory addresses and then "...doesn't seem sane" ... Haven't had that one in a while...

Yes, you HAVE to update to v1.06 if you want to play on ranked servers.

Is it something with my audio drivers maybe but I just CANNOT play and have VOIP enabled. Instant CTD when I join a server if I have VOIP enabled, but if it's off I can play just fine. I've tried keeping EAX off, sound quality on all different qualities, to no avail. Is it a problem in my end? I'd just really like to communicate with my squad.

The VOIP worked for me in BF2.

I have onboard sound on an nforce 430 ASUS A8N VM CSM motherboard.

that’s correct but there is a certain time the server provider have till they have to comply

that time is at least a few weeks, but i think more

plus in bf2 there was 1.00 ranked servers even after a year, although in the end there was only 1 or 2 left

I am also having connection issues since I downloaded 1.06. The servers seem to lag, I'm also timed out of servers between maps loads. It doesn't seem to matter whether Titan or Conquest. Before 1.06 these were not issues for me.

BF2 is looking pretty good again.

We've been playing ours since launch! :) I'm now waiting to get a better cable than the RCA component cable they give you pre-packaged. It doesn't do Zelda justice!

Not to beat a dead horse here, but there is definitely a problem with the 1.06 patch in terms of causing in-game lag and connection issues, both online and in SP maps (no connection issue obviously in SP, but graphics issues and choppiness). I was never having any issues with the 1.01 or 1.05 patches in regards to the screen choppiness and lag in both game modes. Memory leak maybe with the 1.06 hot fix??

You know, most of your message is comprised of things I've read countless times, hell, we seen it all on totalbf2.com. I can't wait until ET: QW is released and will have its share of bugs, especially if they try and replicate the 64player aspect that DICE has been able to do.

But to say the game was only made in a few months? They had already started developing the game when BF2 was released, tweaking and making it better..or so they would think.

I have yet to have any CTD myself, with any of the patches, then again, I never had many troubles with BF2 either. It's not to say that the bugs should be forgiven or that they do not exist, as they've been happening in BF2 and seemingly in BF2142, but do your research before you make a statement that they'd only worked on it for a few months..if anything, you're giving DICe/EA credit for having developed such a grand game in such little time. :rolleyes:

it's all in your pc configuration, those probs that is.. There are people having problems, people that ain't, my guess the problem is becoming more of a client side problem, than a problem of the actual game.. :S
