Today I was flying the gunship and someone locked onto me with the AA guns, anyway I shot up my active defence shield and got hit up the *** with an EMP (I know it was because it thudded against my shield, made no damage at all and no-one had the SAAW) and it had no effect, didn't even make me slow down, I just kept flying

Anyone else encountered this?

Happens all the time with the current patch.
1) if your moving
2) if your shields are up

the emp doesn't affect your motion, just your hud does the discharge

Ive always thrown my shields up in the current patch and got emp'ed but it's always made me slow down or drop. This time it didn't effect me, at all

No HUD distortion, no slowing, no height drop. I just kept going as normal

are you sure it wasn't someone with a SAAW or someone coincidentally hitting you with a tank round or something at that moment?

Nope I was flying too high and fast for it to be a tank shell,

And if it was a SAAW there would have been 2 thuds for a fact, every SAAW user knows its 2 shots for a gunship kill, anyway there were NO SAAW users in the game, at all. I took the gunship out multipul times and never got hit by any SAAW ammo, nor did anyone get killed by a SAAW in the whole game

It was exactly like when the transport ship gets hit by an EMP with it's shields up, nothing happens at all

Wanted to know if it was a 1 off bug or if others have experienced this to.

-EMP effect on gun ships is reduced by 1 second to allow gun ships more survivability.

It's in the fix list for 1.1

That's not what I was asking, please read the post properly

Lets see, it says you had your shield up, got hit with an emp, and it had no effect and you kept going?

If it has a delay now.......your shield was up, you were moving, with a one second delay your not going to see any effect from it.

The change was when you loose control of your ship when it gets emp'd, the effect wares off 1 second faster than previously

Nothing to do with it not effecting you at all when you have you shield up

I didn't even focus on the shield part of the original post.........that's probably what made my response seem off.....

As far as having the shields up I've never had it affect me when they are up that I have noticed?

EDIT: Forgot to add, even though I haven't noticed it myself, you should post it in the feedback over at the beta section in the EA Forums

Have you been able to reproduce this?

Nope, but it's hard to judge when you are gonna get EMP'd and to throw your shield up, ill test it with someone on the test server if they want to

I've had this happen to me on a rare occasion during the current patch. I believe its usually when I'm at the very edge of the AA's range, and the missles are just about to die but then they hit me. You hear the impact, see the emp "effect", but it doesn't affect your propulsion.

Next time if that happens, check to see which AA turrets are occupied, as it might be one trying to hit you at the edge of their range, and thus less effectively. Or, it could be a bug or a new patch "feature"

What happened was you were moving at "high speed" directly away from the EMP missile and it hit your shield, but since you were going fast and away from the EMP explosion, it caused no effect to the aircraft.

But before in the current patch i've put my shield up and got emp'd and my gunship has died, Anyone want to come and test it with me on tst server?

Shield's barrier edge is further from the vehicles now probally an extra meter. If your gunship is as speed and the EMP hits the aft while the shield is up because of your velocity the ships gets about 6-10 meters away from the impact before the effects spread which means you'll get the static disruption but aren't close enough to be directly affected. The speed that the EMP travels also appears reduced slights probally increasing this as well. The SAAW on the otherhand has more speed now. I think they are doing this to give the Engineer kit with the SAAW the equipment advantage over the turreted AA systems.

The other problem this increased shield barrier edge has done is make dropship rams 100% survivable.

Nice explaination, makes sense.
