Hi all...What is the best technique for firing and actually hitting your target with the hand held missile launchers..? Is there a way to guide the missile after you fire?

hold the fire button when firing and you can guide them.

yeah what they said otherwise you go into re-load mode just after you fire and the missiles arcs upward

Best way for the Engy missles to hit?

Upgrade to the Pilum :D

...

Its the same as the Eryx back in the BF2 days - you had to hold down the fire button to get the extended control....which is really lame IMO.

You do hold the fire button, but if the target is moving you need to lead him a bit. The key is aim so you have to only make minor corrections. Major corrections will result in a miss or crashing the missile. (Heh heh, learned this firing TOW missiles in the Army. Was pleasently surprised to see it worked in this too. :) )

Tap the button if your target is within 20meters or hold if it's further. Remember they will a warning anytime you have the target on them so plan on them moving.

The other plan is to shoot above them then guide it down to reduce the amount of time they get the warning.

Don't forget about dumb-firing.

If you've got a target that isn't moving, and you know aiming for prolonged lengths of time will get you killed... zoom, launch, and switch to another weapon. The missiles will travel in a straight line.

I'm willing to bet that there are more then a few people out there that would call this an exploit.

I'm not one of them, but still...just throwing it out there.

dunno, I never use the missile launcher.

Pilum, light armor, apc + assualt pod + sprint for rear/inbetween legs FTW!

I don't see how it's an exploit. Now, if I found a way to track targets with a Pilum... -that's- an exploit.

Yeah, really, so are the guys who put the piece of tape with a black dot in the middle of their screen cheating? I don't see how you could play like that, but that's besides the point.

Another nice way to dumb fire is to aim at the target with your SMG. Then change to missle and fire without zooming. Moving targets are always the hardest to hit. I have the best luck by firing well in front of them and then guiding the missle back toward them if I over shoot.

Good to know :)

Most excellent guide to playing Engineer, plus many posts by others afterward.
