View Full Version : Why is there even an option for camera shake?

I mean, seriously, it must have taken some extra development to produce the camera shake effect for the game but who really use it? Does anyone here use it?

I use it, but I really don't notice it all all.

I use it, turning it off would be the quivelent to running my graphics at low settings to see whats hiding in shadows.

I think I use it, if it's on by default then I use it anyway. What's it like without, I don't notice any camera shake really in game?

Yup. At first I thought it was an option to bring back the shell shock from BF2, pre 1.03 (really thought that added to the feel of the game, sorta like COD2), but alas no. Just a useless realism effect, another thing to disable from the get go. There is no advantage turning all the effects on or setting everything to high.

I use it. Just feels more natural.
Granted if you sit on your butt all day, it may be a different story :P

So do you get a slight gameplay advantage if you turn it off?? How so, your view just doesn't shake as muchor at all) in explosions?

Wow, I didn't even think it was being used. I'll have to give it a try for a few round to see what it's like. I tried it before at the beginning but couldn't tell the difference between it and the stutter caused by lag.

 I'm pleading ignorance, someone please explain what it affects.# You mean EMP and that stuff, what extra shake do you get with it on.
You mean peeps actually turn that added realism off, as you know this is not EA way,,

Yeah ok, but when I run in real life, there is no camera that shakes.

It shakes the camera when you're sprinting

Why do they create the cockpit in F9 mode for aircraft when everyone uses F10 anyways?
Yeah ok, but when I run in real life, there is no camera that shakes.
Yeah, but in real life, you are not a hi-tech soldier from t3h futurez!!1

It's realistic but I find it easier to play without it. If it were a single player game I would turn it on, but since I want an edge against my human enemies, I have disabled it.

Damn setting nearly made me motion sick. DISABLED.
The reason it's in there is for people who suffer from seizure related illnesses such as epilepsy - so that EA cannot be sued for their game causing a medical condition... :P
I use it.

Light colours flashing continously has been proven to cause seizures in patients suffering with illenesses such as epilepsy.

Mmm... me too - specially if someone is spamming EMP nades...

I get that a lot from stupid teammates. :(
It's for trailers and promotional use. Makes the game feel more cinematic the first few times you play, and after a while it gets annoying so one can turn it off.
Be glad they even give you an option!

Never really thought to turn it off 0.o
Might try it.
Also is there anyway to turn off that blur you get when you use active camo.
It cripples my FPS. Especially bad when i change to knife b4 letting go of click and the screen blur stays there but the invisibility is not. and i just get owned.

I tried it for about a day but I just couldn't stand the jump from no shake to tons of shake between BF2 and 2142 so I turned it off.

Went off asap after my first couple rounds of beta. Made me motion sick, and didn't really add anything to the game. Plus off makes it play more like BF2.

if your gfx can handle it, do your self a favor VT, turn it back on unless it makes you feel sick or somthing

I'm guessing not as this could give people an advantage. The blur is there to make things harder to see, even though the FPS drop makes it impossible to aim on low-end machines.
As for camera shake, I used it until a few days ago when I turned it off. I never get much shaking when I sprint anyway.
