been wondering...in chopper, why does this amazing hover chopper have 0 heat/thermal tracking system, ok its air to air..well.....poor but it sort of tracks lol
but air to land it pretty crappy for an ATTACK chopper its dmg limited and u need to hit the back of tank with all missiles to kill it and walkers r near impossible to kill.
the main worry is the missiles have an accuratcy of about zero, the gunner missiles useless as we all know so why dont they do this:
1: make gunner missile tracking to and land unit, heres how it could work:
-you get a "target locked signal " like with anti air guns ect, once locks the missile then tracks like normal missile to land target.
SIMPLE.
2: make the main missile system(not gunners) track like air to air,
3: this mainly a "look good idea" make the chopper or anyother system able to use thermal image veiwing thus press a butten and switch it would look soo good and help the gunner see men and use his gun 100% better/cooler, it very hard for gunner to kill ppl with gun, using thermal vision would make it soo much better :)
tell me what you think maybe sticky...

For weapons from the future, a lot of the stuff in BF2142 seems to be a LOT dumbed down from modern tech (aka, BF2 stuff). Lambert Carbine for example - sux compared to M4.

Whatever the basic support HMG is called vs- M204- the suXor.

BF2142 was not made to mimic the possible future reality of war. It was made to mimic the fairness that will never exist in war.

Without sounding like a ****, we have to remember that it's an arcade shooter game with a futuristic theme. It's meant to be challenging. It's meant to ask alot of you. I can get many kills gunning from an Attack Chopper.
If it was meant to be a futuristic sim, commanders would have nukes, the walkers would have AI and be unmanned, as would the gunships themselves. But where's the fun in that.

I'd rather they focus on balance more than what makes sense.

Those ideas that were suggested could still be implemented though setting aside arguments over what would be realistic/fair in the future. IMO Gunships as they are are underpowered and useless, maybe this would make them a bit more appealing. It won't happen though. I'll just be content with the EMP's affecting them for one second less in the next patch, atm you get constantly owned by air defence.

I disagree. If there's a gunship available me and my regular buddy on there will always grab it, and always cause massive damage to transports and ground vehicles, while also spraying known AA sites.
About once every 5 minutes we'll get EMP'd and hopefully survive.
To me this is very very fair. We rake in the points, but the enemy isn't powerless to it like in BF2, worst case scenario they EMP us and scare us off for a while to repair etc.
If you're good enough there's nothing wrong with the gunships as they stand at the moment. I love them, and I love balance.

Ok, it's a game, it's unrealistic and made to be balanced. If you want to start adding realism or even semi realism, then one shot from any weapon is likely to leave you incapacitated or stunned for a minute or so at the very least. Gunships would have about 8-16 rockets or 4-8 missiles and then we'd get into the complictions of targeting, tracking and IFF issues, even in the probable future. Come back with some bullet holes in your aircraft? Go and fill out a lengthy report after defbrief whilst the game carries on without you etc... etc...
Like I've said before, an MG34 with a bipod would be king of weapons compared to the ones in BF2142.
Also, how many lamposts, trees and small, minor objects (like barrels) do you know that can stop a tank dead in it's tracks? I'd make a big wooden shield out of some of those trees and I'd be indestructable.
So, it's all pretty much balanced, so much more than BF2 ever was, which is probably why I like it. It makes a change from everyone carrying a G36, although APM's where never such a pain in the arse in BF2..

Heh bingo - tactical nuclear strikes would solve most battles if one was to be realistic. Or at least little robots doing the fighting for you. Where are the robots???
