There is a new update posted today over at the First Strike (http://www.firststrikemod.com/) mod website. They are back with some new screens as well as a video. Take a look:
Well with Christmas nearly done and dusted and a New Year waiting to be embraced the Team at First Strike continue working as hard as ever to get a Mod out for you guys.
Weapons testing is now in its final stages and with the exception of a few new grenades and weapons to be tweaked we are very nearly there we think.
The Team would like to thank all the Community sites for the continued exposure and wish all our Fans old and new a Very Happy New Year.
Now without further ado here are some Screenshots of our latest build along with some Video captured by FSDev| Preacher. Please bare in mind a lot of what is here is purely vanilla BF2142 some lighting issues still exist on the player models but this was as the news article states a Weapons test, these little glitches will be ironed out.

LOL. I notice that these are high graphics shots. Will this mod be able to be dimmed to low graphics?

KNowing exactly what the enemy looks like will make it MUCH easier to be a long range killer in the tank. not to mention every other situation on the BF./
I love the sight of blaster bolts flying around :D
This is going to be a fun mod!

Yeah at first I got even more excited. Saw the shadow of a Walker/Mech. Thought "omg an AT-ST" :P Fantastic, none-the-less.
The models seem a little bland (aka. the Stormtrooper) maybe this just has something to do with the textures (models are very high-poly though). Looks good (considering no one else is creating a mod like this... it just seems better) and is a refreshing outlook from the numerous WWII mods for BF2.

We have lots of Videos of Vehicles some completly done and others still in testing stages. Not for general public consumption as of yet tho , I mean we dont want to completly blow your minds yet ! ;)

This made me chuckle a little (in a good way not sarcastic hehe) The reason being, I have been the one on the team for testing performance on my:
AMd 1900XP
1gb PC2100 Ram
FX5900U 256mb
SB audigy
machine, (to which it runs swimingly well so far) and our last ingame screenshot update someone mentioned we should get someone with High GFX to take teh pics (even though they were taken on high lol)
and for Xmas i just got my New Rig, so i took these shots.
All GFX high, 16X AA, 16xAF Transparent AA on supersampling, 1680x1050 resolution.
So I get to see both ends of the spectrum, Low end and High end, and to be honest the Quality of graphics Remains Realy good at the lower end whilst keeping the frames up, and Scales up to Very high detail on the high end, whilst keepig the frames up :)
As an example of the above I have been able to play Our first strike weapons tests on Suez Canal with 100 AI players and my FPS remains around 40-50, with all GFX high, 1680 x 1050 resolution 16x AA 16x AF and transparent AA to supersampling.
So what I'm TRYING to get my point accross is that Yes the game Scales Up and Down the range of computers very well. Bandu and Blitz especially Have gone to IMMENSE great pains to get Endor Running on my Old bucket machine with the amazing amount of trees.

The first strike mod is awesome featuring the real starw wars weapons. but did you make any maps for the mod yet? because in the 3 screenshots the first 2 pics are in suez_canal, the last one in the belgrade map. And do you get to be a jedi or do you only get to be a troop? And do yoiu get to drive AT-ATs, AT-PTs, AT-STs, and tie fighters?your mod looks cool, but it looksthere are some things missing likeclone troopers, droids, bounty hunters and mercenaries. and for the titan mode, is the ship a huge star destroyer for the imperials and a mon calamari cruiser for the rebels? your mod looks kinda ready, but the thingsa in this post are what it needs to become an `official` star wars total conversion for BF2142. And if there is no jedis, can you use a lightsaber? oh well, good luck for the mod and keep up the good work! And what will replace the knife?

Wow I can't WAIT for this mod to be finished!!!! this is SUCH A SWEET MOD and SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!!
I'm a huge Star Wars geek, so like all the other padawans out there, I'm REALLY looking forward to its release.

Everything you See in-game is WIP (work in progress) meaning, basically this is what we have in game SO FAR, and even that is still being tweaked changed improved etc.
One thing I would like to Stress, is that We have a Load of weapons and player models in game as you can see (as well as vehicles that we have'nt shown you yet) All this has been done using our OWN in house Tools that woodrow has created for us, and useing the bf2 Editor (what little it will do). There is no editor for 2142 yet so as most of you can understand, it's a Damn site harder implementing things without any official support from Dice or EA.
We have a Few maps in the pipeline, endor being the most complete in terms of art assetts, we then have hoth, and a couple others including Space. However without an editor it's realy tough getting a custom map in 2142.
so to get back to why we are testing on suez, belgrade and cerebere landing, is because it's a difficult process to get teh maps in-game, we didn't want to let that slow down our Weapons Testing and Balancing process, so we ported our weapons etc into the existing bf2142 maps and we are useing those maps to test the weapons etc on, so by the time we get our own maps complete and in 2142, we will be ready to drop in our fully kitted out troops, complete with weapons (And vehicles, which havent entered testing yet but are due to soon), One of which will be the AT-ST ;) as well as our Tie fighter collection X wing and Speederbike. Soon to follow thos ewill be the A-wing and Snow speeder.

1. Yes, they have been working on maps. In a past update they have shown screens of a few. All major battles from the original films will be included, along with some that didn't appear in the films.
2. Jedi were very rare at the time of the mod, as they had been wiped out by the Emperor and Darth Vader. I think it is undecided at this time? Don't quote me on that.
3. Yes, you will be able to 'drive' AT-AT's, AT-ST's, and AT-PT's; as well as a variety of many other vehicles.
4. The mod takes place during Episodes 4-6 (The original ones). No Clone Wars stuff will be included yet, although a clone wars mod might (no promises) be made in the future.

Amazing when you consider EA/DICE didn’t release any mod tools, gee what was that they were saying about supporting mods this time?
Stormtroopers sort of glow like light bulbs though, maybe dirty up the texture to lessen the effect a bit. Rebel forces face texture needs work, looks like he’s got lipstick on – or is it suppose to be a female model?
Looks cool though, shame DICE isn’t supporting you - I guess you could yet pick up your toys and go play in someone elses sandbox (quake wars conversion or maybe even UT2007).
edit: I see you do have female player models, still something not quite right. The human faces look like mannequins, too clean/plain/perfect looking.

There will be plenty of videos with those in the future I imagine. We simply use the vanilla maps and vehicles right now until we start getting our bf2 maps into 2142. The bots make it much easier to test the weapon balance when testers are not available.
I see you do have female player models, still something not quite right. The human faces look like mannequins, too clean/plain/perfect looking.
We hear our fans! Worry not, the faces are being worked on :) As are are many things you see in these screens/video.
