View Full Version : Hit spots on consoles and core

does any one know if there weak spots on the consoles, i've seen players shoot at them from the side , does that make any difference ?
and on that note is there anything like that on the core ? , because sometimes i throw RDXs into the core itself (the bright light ) and they disappear and when i hit the detonator there's no explosion, did i still damage the core or is it a bug?
Thanks in advance for your replys. . . . .

I dont think there is any *weak* spot on the consoles but I've seen a lot of people putting their RDXs just below the red core

People will shoot from the side so they can see if there are any enemies inbound. There was mention on this forum of perhaps a weak spot on the underside, but I doubt it.

Why would you put stuff in a laser beam, what do you think happens to it?

But shooting Pilum to the red core would do a lot

what do you mean what do i think happens to it? are you asking because it's soooo obvious that nothing would happen to it because this is how a titan core works? well i don't know because i've never seen a REAL titan core before and i don't know what happens when you put stuff in it, besides i've also never placed explosives in a laser beam before so if the core is based on laser beam technology as you suggest that would have not helped me either.
oh and tanks, apcs, helis and other vehicles dont appear out of thin air in their bases two minuts after they went up in blaze neither.

I wish the consoles were a bit more easily restroyed with guns, it took nearly ALL my clips and bullets with the clark to destroy one console. Im surprised no one on the enemy team heard me firing away at it for like 20 minutes.

I guess at the rate the hull icon would be going down, they would either not notice or assume it's silo damage.

It didn't occur to you to use grenades?
As support you have an unlimited supply.

Now I'm no engineer from the year 2142 coming back to set you straight, but I'd be willing to bet the Titan isn't powered by a laser beam.

grenades are not an unlock...
Only the 3rd extra grenade can be unlocked.
Every unit is equipped with 2 fragmentation grenades by default.
Support kit can resupply himself so he has infinite grenades.

I'm usually the first one up in a newly vulnerable titan with my support kit. I drop a sentry gun at the far end of the first shaft, towards the enemy's hallway forcefield, facing towards the cargo bay. Then I drop a supply box for myself at the console and start blasting.
With the default support machine gun, if you hold down the trigger until it overheats, approximately 8 cycles of firing and cooling down all the way will take out a console, with one reload in the middle. Sometimes I can get a second console in this fashion, but usually the enemy team realizes that they had better defend as soon as one of their consoles goes down.
If I'm lucky and my squad is working well, they will come back me up as soon as they can with recons, and then we can get all the consoles and sometimes the core blown up in short order.
If not, then I die, and well that's usually pretty much that. I go cap silos until my team mounts an offense or I go defend our titan. :) I'm hoping it will take less rounds with a Ganz but I haven't unlocked it yet nor have I been able to try it as a field upgrade on the titan yet.

I donīt understand how it is possible to be mistaken about so central an element of the game, either you have grenades or you donīt.
But anyway I think it is a fair balance that those classes best for breaching the defences are not the same as those who can quickly destroy the consoles/core.
