Global score -VS- Career score (a short rant)

Why for f*cks sake did they had to bring in the career points, what are my points is it 11589 or is it only 4315 ??
why couldn't they just make everything global score and adjust the ranks, badges and the scoring system ? or just the rank requirments ?
