I shot a round straight into the cockpit of a transport jet that was coming right toward me, I got a kill message, ducked back down into cover, few seconds later, the jet didn't blow up. So I went over to it and got in, and it still and 70% health left!

Yeah if someone had confirmation for this, that'd be nice (or not. New M95 anyone?)

I have been shot out of the gunship a few times (by APCs I think), and watched the unmanned gunship fall to the ground.

It may be a glitch in the design of the gunships, more than the ability of the Pilum.

Nice shot bro. You decked the pilot. I hope you repaird it and took off.

Strange though, that it did'nt blow up.

Nah, I just went in and out so my teammates could spawn in on it. I suck at flying anyways.

I love putting a Pilum round into a gunship that hovers just a little to long overtop a silo.

Oh right, for some reason I thought you were talking about the gunship. Yeah it takes a couple of rounds to blow up a transport. But you still dotted the pilot. Pricless.

I'm an expert with the Pilum. When firing it at armor, aim for weak spots. Only fire directly head on when the target is under 20%, on fire and about to explode. Weak spots on the tank are directly on top of the turret and especially on the back panel. On the transport its tricky, I'm not positive but the thrusters seem to generate extra damage when hit because it catches on fire. It usually takes a couple guys to take one out unless its under 50%. AA is best for that, the H-AVR is designed specifically for ground based armor targets, but still remains one of the most deadly Engineer weapons.

If it's same as BF2, AT rockets and stuff, directly on the cockpit will kill the pilot but can leave the aircraft intact.

I have been killed in a gunship a few times, which is rather surprising since I don't have a lot of airtime in them.

But I have never heard of this... I suppose I should try it at some point. I should get the chance since I play a whole lot engy.
Way to go on actually hitting the guy, I find that pinpoint shooting the Pilum is rather tough, and most of my infantrykills comes from point blank range, or when some fellow steps in the way (of my beautiful long range rear shot on a tank).

It is tough to aim the projectile well, it seems to be a bit random at times. I recommend ducking or going prone before taking the shot, take a couple seconds after moving to get the perfect line. I find ducking is the most effective way to use the H-AVR, standing gives you terrible accuracy.

At 250 meters, the shot will land inside of the outer circle. Not that bad, but still hard to use at long ranges.

I did this once, although I thought for sure it was one of the guys riding inside. Meh.

Oh sure... I know the Pilum well enough to not use it standing unless I have a fat Tigerbutt closeby to shoot at.
But actively shooting at infantry is generally a waste for me. Usually the first misses just barely, alerting the infantryman to a danger. So before I can try again he has left... Probably to knife me.
I have had enemies try to Pilum me a few times, the first time was the only success for them, and it still took three shots. All the others have just missed me, where I could then deal with them with a grenade or something.
But at point blank range where you step out from cover to face an enemy I find it hugely effective. It is like having a shotgun that always kills. That close in the enemy fills so much of the screen that you can hardly miss. And it feels good to kill that shotty-whore who has been tearing a hole on your team, on his own turf (up close and personal).
I have even lured knifers in because they thought I was defenceless with my Pilum... Not a chance!

I have alot of pilum kills, but very few against infantry. It's not a sniper rifle, tho if I wanna shame a guy who's been owning up ol' Z here a bit on a silo, I'll pilum him instead of knifing him.

I got a really unusual pilum kill the other day. The enemy commander was on top of a building on Minsk. Had a crate and a sniper rifle, being completely useless to his team. He got me twice before I finially nailed down which one he was on. I podded from our titan, and caught him zoomed in sniping. Went to whip out my knife, and somehow brough up my pilum, just in time for him to spot me and stand up with his knife out. As I frantically tried to switch to anything besides the pilum, it went off and hit him right in the face. Totally looked like I waited for him to get up with a knife before I cooly shot him non-zoom. He called me a few names and it made my day :)

Dude, this squad was roof-camping the PAC uncap in Fall of Berlin, I sniped one of the guys off the roof with the Pilum.

I have been shot out a walker before too.

My best (or worst) infantry kill with the Pilum I have already mentioned.

I had been hunting this tank for an age. He was pretty good and didn't stop to allow for easy shots. But finally he settled down a bit and I lined up the shot for his rear. Perfect! 10 meters or so to the tank and his rear was nicely in my view.
Suddenly he moves about! A Rorsch had opened up on him, bringing him to 50% fast... YEY! A certain kill now. I shoot. Just then the gunner jumps out and takes the shot in his face... Tank turns around and kills me while I frantically scramble for proper cover while reloading.

That my friends, is what it is all about being a gunner, sacrifice!
