I know this is the wrong forum, but I'm leaving in a few minutes and I'm hoping someone answers before it gets moved.

If I buy a widescreen monitor, will I have to do any tweaking to be able to play 2142 and to view websites, or is it just plug and play????

The reason I ask is because I'm dumb and if I have to tweak, I'll undoubtedly have to come running to you guys for help.

Well the desktop resolution is separate from the ingame resolution but it is not recommended to run the game at a higher resolution than the desktop.

You will need to add +szx 1680 +szy 1050 to the end of your 2142 desktop shortcut. It will stretch the in game hud but doesn't stretch the game engine so 3D looks normal. Obviously change my resolution there with your monitors native resolution.

Does this "+szx 1680 +szy 1050" replace "+menu 1 +fullscreen 1" ?

Not at all, BTW find your monitors native resolution and run both your desktop and game like that if you have the eyes for it (mine is 1680x1050 and things are very small but it's fine!)

it'll play the game just fine. depending on the monitor settings, you'll either see black bars on the right and left to get a square picture, or it'll be "stretched" to fit the whole screen (use your aspect controls on the monitor if you don't like the stretched look).

Alternately, you can change the shortcut parameters for the game and force it to an actual widescreen resolution, but that's not officially supported. That's what I do, and I'm very happy with the results.

As for websites and such, no worries there, you should be good to go.

yeah, the OP was the only one with a post when I started making mine... I'm at work, so... interruptions abound, LOL... by the time I finally got to clicking the submit button, you two had a full blown conversation going, LOL

Yeah that is annoying, happens too many times, same when using the quick reply function. When you hit post it looks like yours is the next in line but after a refresh, other posts suddenly appear in between :)

EA/Dice does not support wide screen monitors, They say is would be to much of an advantage to users that dont have wide screen monitors. But the did not say is was not ok you use a crossfire or sli video setup aginst users that only had only 1 video card lol
