View Full Version : CAL BF2142 Pro Mod Released

CAL (CyberAthletic Amateur League) (http://www.caleague.com/) has been hard at work creating a new mod for BF2142 that helps to balance the game play for their seasons. Take a look:

BF2142's unlock system, while great for public server play, is generally thought to be unfair for competitive play. All players should have access to the same equipment in league play, regardless of their rank. CAL is addressing this problem with a mod created by the CAL-BF2142 admin team - BF2142Pro.

If no major bugs are found, BF2142Pro will be used in CAL-BF2142 preseason and most likely regular season as well.

BF2142Pro can be downloaded in the Files section of any CAL Battlefield series page. Clients should get the .exe installer, while server operators should get the .zip file.
File mirrors will be posted here if needed.

BF2142Pro essentially does 3 things:
1. It gives all players access to the same equipment, and includes more "standard" equipment and upgrades for each class.
2. It fixes some game bugs, such as the kit revive bug and the automatic weapon firing sound synchronization.
3. It makes the starting spawns on conquest maps less random by allowing players more selection in their main base spawning area.
BF2142Pro does NOT make any changes to the behavior of any vehicles, weapons or equipment. As a result, BF2142Pro will feel more like a patch than a true "mod" for BF2142.

Making it so support cant come out of no where and provide cover for medics?
By taking away the gun drone which just rocks?
The ammo upgrade so pistols suck unless you know what you are doing?
Taking away smoke grenades which are prime for a medic?
Taking away that life saving grenade?
Taking away the sonar so that engineers are running blind?

Im sorry this just looks like a mod coming from a group of guys who thought stuff was "Unfair" :\.

I see your point on those issues Kalo - particularly the APMs. For players that have never had them it'll be no major loss but for players who are competing who have already earned them it'll take some getting used to.

Okay, I would like to comment on this. Currently you can only allow a certain amount of unlocks in any mod. This a programming issue, not a mod issue.

1.) By making it so snipers have no way to cover theyre back?

I can only assume that you are talking about the APM mines, which are extremely overpowered. It's not a matter of watching a snipers back, it's a matter of a stationary explosive with a 10 foot blast radius. A good sniper wouldn't be sitting still anyway.

2.) Making it so support cant come out of no where and provide cover for medics?

Why can't support guys "come out of no where"? You can provide cover just like normal. The only thing you are missing is the personal sheild and the vehicle radar? How is this an issue? What exactly makes this harder to be support?

3.) By taking away the gun drone which just rocks?

Are you speaking about the level 3 squad leader unlock? Again, due to the unlock constraints, you can't have everything. What the makers did here was try and give the beacon to a couple of classes and the OTIS to the other 2.

4.) The ammo upgrade so pistols suck unless you know what you are doing?

What the hell are you talking about here? So you only have 2 pistol clips instead of 3. Remember this is a competitive mod.

5.) Taking away smoke grenades which are prime for a medic?

I agree that smoke would be great for medics, if you look though, we only have so many slots to work with.

COMPETITIVE MODIFICATION - more grenades = grenade spam on flags and at choke points (which if you look at ALL but 2 of the maps in 2142 have them).

7.) Taking away the sonar so that engineers are running blind?

This is a competitive mod, in competition, your commander isn't retarded and if he is good at what he does, you'll be able to see everything before and after you get to where you are going.
