btw, all you people who think it's a good deal to pay $10 for "a bunch of new content", obviously haven't heard of mods like PoE2. It has all new maps/weapons/vehicles right down to the knife.

Its still the same engine, although we can probably expect a patch around release, to add the new unlocks to the core game.

why are people so dismissive about this new booster pack?? I know EA made a horrible mistake with the AF and EU booster packs but this one looks prety good

If you think you should get content for free just cuz' you have bought a game from a company you are in for a rude awakening.:D

I paint a mastepeice and I get $100K for it, i'm going to make more.
Now if the collector who's bought my first masterpeice thinks he should get the next ones for free hes sorely mistaken.:laugh:

I have quit BF 2142 , gave up on Dice finishing the job...plus booster packs is simply another way to get more cash, because its really too early for a official expansion and no way EA / Dice will give away free content so booster packs is the way to launch mini expansions.

I am just hanging around on the forums waiting for the next big mp game, till then I'll get some CS:S or DOD:S games in... or play around with TBC (Warcraft).

We've already seen DICE introduce new CTDs; SLSB one still hasn't been fixed.

They fix most bugs by making a new game.

Try telling that to Trauma Studios who pretty much single handedly doubled the BF1942 user base - by releasing the Desert Combat mod for free (loads of maps, loads of weapons, loads of vehicles - in fact, MUCH more than is in 2142).

BF1942 even came with much more content than 2142 has (more, better maps and FAR more vehicles - as well as 5 different factions... i think, maybe 6) and on top of that, it featured 5 free maps, a new faction, new weapons and FAR MORE than just 2 new vehicles - all of that was free!

your "masterpeice" analogy simply doesn't fit.

And get this... being as the BP unlocks will be usable in the main game, it means that the unlock content will already be part of the game (in the patch they release at the same time) - so you're basically only paying for 3 maps and 2 vehicles - not a very good deal at all, bordering on extortion!

Not a good deal? Doesn't that depend on the price?
If the price is low enough even one map can be a good deal.

Beside the unlocks will be available in the core game, but only those who have bought the booster will be able to unlock them.

The rest will have to do with Field Upgrades and plundering corpses.

Its not enough to keep me interesting in the game and after reading their announcement it sounds like they havent retained any of the information this community has given them. I look at this release in more of a business perspective. It looks like the pattern this time is Booster Pack - then Expansion Pack - and then another Booster Pack instead of the usually, EP - BP - BP they did with BF2.

There trying to force as much money out of the game as possible, since BF2142 is definitly not going to last as long as other, similar, online MP games. 3 new maps? Please, they could give us those for free in 3 different patches, which they almost did for BF2. Oh well, you cant stop it, it looks like a fair amount of people will buy it, but dont suspect the servers will be running for too long caring it.
