Just let me be the first to say    EA owns your pocket book.

I am totally impressed with thier marketing strategy. I think they're taking lessons from B.G. :D No one owns like he does.

I was tempted to buy it just for the unlocks, but decided I wont be buying it, as I barely played the BF2 xpack or BP.
I will save my money for the other games out shortly after this BP is due to be released.

You don't have to buy it for the unlocks... you can get those when you are in/leading a good squad. So it would be waaaay better for the community if people didn't buy this booster because of two things: servers won't become nearly empty when map changes to a booster map, and there will be more, organized, teamplay oriented squads for people to be able to use the unlocks via field upgrades!

Since we have no idea what the unlocks are, it is a bit early to ask that question. :)

But if they open up new fun aspects of the game AND the price stays in the 10$ range, then I will probably consider them worth the price alone if the maps fail.
But I still hope to play the maps a lot.

This btw wont hurt the community one bit, since I already play in squads.;)

Unfortunately I don't think we will see this helping the squads much. People are already incapable of grasping that following/issuing orders = more points, so I do not have high hopes that this will have a big impact.
I could fear that we will just get "parasites" joining squads without doing any teamwork, since the Field Upgrades are shared among all, even if they have zero teamwork points.

Of course there is also the problem that the upgrades are lost each time you have a CTD.

I kinda like that there would be unlockable unlocks that can only be gotten through teamwork. That would promote that kind of play. Of course the parasites would also join into to suck the Field Upgrades, but that is a price I'm willing to pay. It isn't as if it is any different from now... I think it would just up the quantity of teamplayers and the quantity of parasites. Getting more people to leave that 'Unassigned' status they carry around in quite a few servers.

Even when I have joined squads that do nothing together there are benefits to it, so even a parasite can be of minor help (NetBat for instance).

Those are nice ideas!!! Create an unlock for the squad players and base the "unlock granted" on the basis of the proximity the team works and the objectives they accomplish and not by how many are in a squad.

$10 for 10 permanent unlocks and 10 awards is probably worth it

Add 3 new maps and 2 vehicles that will be played for a month of so and yeah sure.

eh? Unlocks are free in field upgrades so not much point buying the booster, just for unlocks :)

Err. I've changed my mind. I'm gonna get it. Ten unlocks and more badges don't sound bad...

EDIT: OK, in fact, I'm going to reserve judgement on the vehicles and maps...

Well, considering other companies charge for 'expansion' packs AND charge a monthly fee, it's not so bad, now, is it?

Whilst I remain sceptical about the motives of any large corporation (it's pretty obvious, even though they are run by human beings, they hardly have the benefit of mankind as a priority) they have few alternatives when faced with a product that has an ongoing cost to not fund that in some ongoing way.

My 1st reaction was to give it a miss after the BF2 Booster packs but I think the new format of unlocks is a good idea and I'll likely get it.

I think they should have gone 1 better and given the new game types and maps free to all for online play only and the permanent unlocks, awards/points etc and maps for offline play as the booster pack extras.

I think most who would purchase the Booster pack as it is now would still buy it in the new format and even benefit from the new maps being played all the time.

Well if the price is 10 bucks I'll go ahead and get it for the new unlocks and play the new maps once the thrill wears off it's back to playing BF2142 vanilla with the new unlocks.

We need more maps and badges so i will be getting the booster pack,i bought the bf2 bps and not many people played it after a month but i think the bf2142 will be popular as ea havnt put enough in the game yet,a coop mode would be nice to practice against the bots:cool:

Considering I've payed $15 a month for previous games, a 1-off charge of $10-$20 for a month of extra fun at least, and then 10 new unlocks and awards after that... I'm not really seeing the problem.
