View Full Version : Need a pin for us transport pilots.

I think in 1.11 (or whatever the next patch will be before the booster) they should seriously consider making a pin for 10 transport pods anywhere. It would be similar to the titan air drop pin and would be for those of us who make a real difference when we fly the transport. For instance, I was responsible just a few minutes ago for over 15 drops at least that all led to the capture of at least 8 silos; I was keeping the transport rock steady so others could capture the silos. I even landed and picked like 5 guys after one cap.
This would be a pin for those of us who risk life and limb (and points because of TKs) hovering over enemy occupied silos. It doesn't have to be much, maybe 10 points for 10 drops but it should be something.

I agree..the taxi-drivers are way too underappreciated point-wise. They are the ones who make assaults in the rear possible and the task is also rather dull - not much motivation to be a transport pilot.
It would be consistent with the scoring-system that these fellas get a pat on the back for their selfless serivce.

Indeed, there has to be additional points BUT we also have to make sure stat padding will not be involved.

that's why I said 10 points for 10 drops. It keeps the people who only drop a few off at the beginning of the round from making a ton of points but allows people who actually stick around a site where others would like to spawn (like above red silos) to make a few extra points.
The only real way to stat pad this would be to land, pick up, and drop a guy or guys a few times (dozens if it's just one guy)but because it's only like 10 points it's more a waste of time than the points are worth.
perhaps getting points for getting assists and scores on the flag/silos?

give us driver assist ability pts. for every few people that we drop off or for every few minutes we fly around with passengers and make us immune from those stupid tk punishes. its kinda dumb how a decent air transport pilot with good intentions for the team can end up with a negative score just for flying around where as there are no repercussions for smacktard pilots who bail out and cause deaths of his passengers.

I don't know how many T/K's I gotten from people jumping out and getting killed as I was landing, and I get a T/K, thats ridiculous!

Meh.
I enjoy flying transports simply because I enjoy flying transports.
I don't feel the need to let points dominate the way I play the game. It would be nice to score higher for doing the dirtywork, but I don't think it's critical.
Besides, I'm often the SL for my squad and I get points for my guys grabbin silos and killin stuff from my bird. Those guns are under-apressiated when coupled with a pilot who knows how to provide a firing platform and there's some nasty tricks you can pull from the back-seats (SAAW/pilum use and motion mine dropping, for example).

I agree with this. There should be more of an incentive to be a pilot - this would slow down the personal taxi users from piloting it until they reach their destination and bailing, leaving the entire transport of people flying to their deaths.

bump. Maybe if we make as much noise about this as we did about the titan survival pin, we'll get it.

wow sorry it said i PMd you wtf?
Back to topic:
The transport pilots need some reward, i think they should create a pin called the Silo Drop pin, like the titan drop pin you drop people off at silos. I think they should limit the pin though say 20 drops is = 2 pins = 20 points and that the limit, like the titan destroyer pin.

I'm still waiting for the pin that you are supposed to get just for logging in the game.

Hah. Refer to one of my rant threads saying that transport pilots dont earn &^%$ for hovering over a enemy base for those who want to pod down. The resulting response indicated that there is a total dis-respect for the one poor "Sap" sitting rock steady high enough to avoid enemy fire providing the one pod-off point plus a good spawn in enemy lands on the game.
I think at one time there was a bunch of pins to be earned and DICE nerfted it in one of the patches calling it "Elimination of Unnatural Point Gain" or something like that.
Any tranpost pilot who lands just committed murder on a mass scale on each and all teammates on the plane or near/under it because the enemy will open fire on it with everything they can grab right that moment.
Just as well to take command using the One Star to hammer with a big club all the other nooblets who want command and just park the &^%$ TITAN in range of all the silos so everyone can pod to any point on the map AND pod over to the enemy titan when their shields fail.

well, went and read the thread. Damn grammar Nazis were taking over toward the end not mention a bit of anti-american (the usual nowadays) bashing.
But, yeah, the only real reason to fly the transport is to just help your team. I have most of the unlocks I wanted now, too, so maybe I'll just put the time toward those two badges. They better be worth 1000 points each.
