View Full Version : A message to all Support guys in Titan corridors

Please, be nice to your teammates and drop an AMMO HUB if you're defending a Titan corridor. ;)

This might not be news to you, but each player has 2-3 grenades at the most. Recons can only drop 2 APM's, and once they're gone, they're gone.

It's alot tougher to defend a corridor when you're out of grenades and have no APM's, so please, if you're a support player in a corrdior, make it a habit to drop an ammo hub FIRST before you setup your Sentry or IPS.

It will make everyone's life alot easier. Well, except for the attacking team of course! :D

I would add to this for the Assault guys to drop a medical hub, as well. Sure, most of the grenade spam insures the attackers will never get a shot in to begin with, but sometimes they do, in fact, manage to toss some lead before they die... might as well heal up between waves of attackers.

Here's hoping one of the new unlocks in the booster is a flash-bang of some sort to help even things out for the attackers, too. Titan mode has SO much promise but more and more I'm seeing it just boil down to keeping the silos because teams know getting all the consoles is asking to have your K/D ration go down the toilet if you're attacking. =(

NO KIDDING!!! That tees me off to no end when you call for supplies on the titan & after youre down to your last bullet, they finally come around. BUT ...they run RIGHT past you to set up the sebtry gun, then they put down their shield .... & THEN .....they just go prone STILL not dropping a hub. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

The ones that REALLY irk me are the support fools in the vents. Instead of covering the consoles, they are up in the vents playing grabass while people in the halls are SCREAMING for ammo.

I have never been one to TK, but I can't count the times that I had to shoot a support guy & throw his ammo hub on his dead body because he is laying right NEXT to me while I yell Ammo .. Ammo.. ammo 20 times, then just looks at me & then turns back around.

If you are going to play Support ..... GIVE AMMO! I know there are REALLY stupid ignorant people in this world, but GG!

I guess the real ignorant ones though are the Commanders who hear the screams for ammo & drop a supply crate on the titan roof.  OhHHH... The Humanity!!!

Yeah, I forgot about the Med hub too. Even though those enemy grenades don't score a direct hit, they still do damage. Two or three of those, and even heavy armor guys will go down.

If you're going to carry the gear, then USE IT! :D

I would say stop camping the hallways and get out there and fight like a man. :D

Just Kidding. Attacking a well defended corridor is the hardest thing to do in this game and can be very challenging.

YES!!!!!!

I have been left so many times with no ammo by gumbys who refuse to give a resupply that ive learned to scavange the enemys carcases for what ever stuff i can find...

i start as recon, drop my apm's and a couple RDX at titan door...wait for the BOOM as Rambo charges mindlessly around the corner blowing him and his mates back off my titan...il grab their kits and toss any usable extras i can find, Ammo box,med box, RDX,APM'S,Sentry gun, what ever i can get to give me a leg up....usually by the time the games ended ive still got plenty of RDX and apm's as well as a sentry gun protecting my corridor, all supplied by my new best Friends , the enemy :D

Actually, that got me thinking:

How many times have you picked up a kit from a dead enemy on your titan HOPING for some kind of resupply salvation, only to find that they haven't even unlocked grenades yet??? How were they going to destroy a console?? With their pistol? Or their engy kit is full of garbage like EMP mines and Motion mines.

Great idea - all too often after I kill an attacker in a vent and go inspect his kit, his buddy jumps down while I'm doodling and knifes me.

 Heh - you know, doodling:
1) run over to corpse
2) look down to see what kit it is, sometimes having to wait for corpse to disappear 'cause it's covering the kit
3) hit G to pick it up, then hit '4', '5', and '6' to see what he's got
4a) drop hub, or
4b) drop APMs behind my position
5) go back to pick my kit back up
6) die from the guy that dropped in

I for one play as support 50% of the time while playing. And every single time I see a group of guys together I drop a supply box. I have tons of points from doing this. But, of course I love teamwork so it comes naturall for me to play for the team and not for points.

You know, servers should have this scrolling through the game. I mean, a couple of good rounds as support in defense would give some newbs HUGE points. I know some of the just dont think of it. As far as scavenging the dead, its unfortunate that this is pretty commonplace now. I see people do it all the time.

There's one thing I'd like to point out. It seems there is a delay between when you deploy a med hub and then when hold another one. The delay also is kinda random because sometimes I can pull out another one straight away and other times its like 30s wait.

Anyway my point here is this I was running around an upper corridor, one that still had the shield so I could shoot people in the vents with my ar-rockets and then I'd fall back into the shield. Occasionally I'd take some hits or almost get blown to bits by a grenade so naturally I deploy a med hub. After they get the message not to go in the vents I run down to the bottom corridor to defend. Some guy down there starts spamming "I need a medic", and I can't do anything because the game won't let me deploy another hub for some reason. All I could do was wait and hope he didn't TK me because I knew it would be pointless to explain what with all the radio spam and the fact I didn't know why it was taking so long. Luckily enough the guy wasn't that impatient and I was suddenly, miraculously able to deploy a med hub.

yes thats true ive been trying to get some heal points lately and sometimes the med hub wont come out for a while....very annoying... funny thing is supply hub is ok all the time recharges much quicker......????

and yes i play for points thats why almost everyone plays RANKED!

Can't tell you how many times I've spammed for ammo right next to a support guy and he just lays there. Even after emptying my pistol right in front of his face he keeps looking over at me like "Huh?". I've taken to vote kicking peeps that are this retarded. Seriously, if they cant figure it out then they need to go.

When I play that kit,I'm throwing ammo like crazy as I realize that every one has limited ammo and I like that kit for close quarters combat as I have un limited ammo.

IcecreamLtDan
01-23-2007, 02:54 AM
It works the same way for the support kit. I play support probably 90% of the time and I spam ammo crates everywhere. There is a limit as to how many you can deploy and if you reach that limit, which IIRC is two, there is quite a delay before you can get it again.

I've run into plenty of people screaming at me for ammo and I'm not ignoring you, I just can't get the crate deployed at the moment. I've gotten to where I try to drop one crate in a place where people will travel a lot, or where there are large groups of people fighting and I try to hold on to the other one, but it doesn't resupply as fast as when you drop it and you're obviously vulnerable while running around holding it.

Also, if I'm shooting at bad guys, screaming at me for ammo is liable to get you ignored. Like it or not, I wanna live! Oh, and if I'm spamming grenades, as I am apt to do, running into me while I'm tossing a grenade and then punishing me because the grenade I tossed bounced off of the wall and back onto your ******* instead of around the corner is liable to get you on my "You're not getting any ammo from me" list as well.

I think that its more of a general problem and not just in the titan... I mostly play conquest, and it happens all the time... you'll be looking at the support guy standing on your ****, calling for resupply... NOTHING!!!

Leemus
01-23-2007, 07:44 AM
Cant believe people dont do this.
I drop a medic/ammo hub whenever i stop moving.
Nothing pisses me off more than a guy whom you have stood infront of. shoot at his feet. and askd for ammo/health... to watch them run away.

This thread really touches a nerve. I've had times when I'm on enemy titan with only my knife left and every "support" guy I see is off taking a dump or more interest in camping for kills than dropping one lousy ammo box. Usually I just wait for the morons to get killed, take their kit and give myself ammo

Reading this thread got me all nostalgic about my 'noob' days sitting in the corridor with my sentry gun, shield and ganz spamming gernades. (my method of titan defence has sinced evolved to podding onto the top of the titan and knifing/shotgunning my way down, resupplying the guys camping the vents, ect) I forgot how fast the points roll in in this position.. you are a hard target to kill, you get your share of points, and you actually are doing a great job helping your team. Anyways I took a screen just FTHOI.

The problem with spamming ammo/medic boxes is that the bad guys can use them, too. One of my favorite corridor camping spots is the corner just on the other side of the door. For awhile people will run into the coridor without even looking. I'd never put an ammo there because the assaulting guys could use it.

I can only speak for myself, but when I was new, I was afraid that if I dropped a crate, it would be gone and I'd not be able to resupply anyone until I respawned. Then, one day, an epiphany hit me: ammo hubs are themselves considered ammo, right? All I have to do to immediately deploy another is to throw one down, and wait for that "click sound." Instant new ammo hub. Ammo hub resupplies health hubs as well. But also, for support players, the "health bar" above friendly units is thier ammo supply. It's easy to see who is low and go to them with an ammo box.

Here's the clincher for the skeptics: I average (lately) about 30 points a game. I mabey get 7 kills the whole time. I probobly get 6 or 7 flag captures, as well. Thats 14 points. Where are the other 16 coming from? Ammo points.

As much as i would think that this is pretty obvious, you would be supprised how many morons play this game.

I once spammed to a support guy that my ENTIRE squad needed ammo since none of us were support and none were dead or about to die. I spammed global chat, team chat, and ingame audio commands. Hell i even shot the guy in the leg twice to get his attention. "Astroboy2142" is his name. In the end i gave up and wasted him, grabbed his kit and dumped an ammo box, picked up my own kit again, revived him and went about my business.

Needless to say he punished for it.

True that. Engineer and Support are good kits for getting points for beginners. Also as a sapper you can get lots of points (titan mode) just repairing the titan guns and repairing your teammates vehicles and commander assets.. plus its a great feeling to repair a teammates tank or walker, or remove enemy mines from their path. I allways thank the person who repairs my commander assets when I'm commanding because it really sucks to have that stuff broken.. alot of people see its down and don't bother repairing them thinking its not important.

Sorry I agree that being engy is great fun but please don't mistake it as a way for a beginner to get easy points. Easy points is putting your ammo hub on a Titan gun, easy points is defribbing a guy in the open who keeps getting shot over and over. Easy points is definitely not repairing a gun over and over as you need someone to be on it, and most of the time as soon as it gets destroyed they leap off like they've been bitten on the arse. And it certianly isn't like the passive 'drop a hub and still shoot' points that the others get either.

Despite that, I love the engy role. /sucker.

It's a game, you get points for doing things that help your team. You get points for repairing titan guns, which helps your team and also gives you points. I'm not suggesting stat padding and i certainly don't condone it. You get points for bringing guns back online if someone is sitting there or not. I know what its like to be new, looking at all the shiny powerfull unlocks and wanting points to unlock them, and I found as a begginer I got the most points when playing the sapper/support kits. If I see the titan guns are destroyed I repair them. Not because Its 'easy points', but because I know that sometimes you are killed by a squad/tank/walker ect and you respawn on the titan, run to the guns to get some revenge and see they are all destroyed and nobody has repaired them. If I hear someone shout "I need supplies" in the vents and I'm in the corridors, I'll run to the hangar, pod to the top and drop a box for them. And its not for the 'easy points', its because I know what its like to be down to my last unit of RDX.

If they keep the ammo to themselves they're not getting points are they? My point is that dropping a hub (of any sort) is a passive way to get points. the person who gets the points can carry on killing and taking silos etc. An engineer cannot do this with their unlock.
