Have a little story I'd like to share with you all.
Last night, playing on Suez Titan, our team was getting hammered pretty hard. Usually only had one or two silos at any given time, so our shield went down fast. It was looking like it was going to be a quick and painful round. Nevertheless, I got my squad into position to repel any attackers who made their way to the corridors in the Titan. Our commander was stationed in corridor #1, and we had set up our defenses in #2. Needless to say, consoles 1 and 3 were blown before we could blink an eye. I guess our commander wasn't prepared for the inevitable onslaught that came. Well, we knew it was our turn, so we defended that corridor savagely.
Then a miraculous thing happened. The remainder of the team had captured all five silos, and held four constantly, with the fifth constantly changing hands. All of a sudden, we had a chance to win this. I guess this turn of events had an effect on the other team, too, because their boarding parties became smaller and smaller. I'd imagine they saw the need to take back some of those silos. Anyway, our corridor #2 defenses were pretty much impassable. APM's, sentrys, well-placed snipers and support gunners. We had it all. We just had to repel the few attackers until our assault guys could finish off their titan, which seemed easy enough. Only one enemy console left intact, and we had two remaining. :p
Then, things took another turn for the worse. Our silo count went down to two, then down to one, and I knew it was only a matter of minutes before our hull was toast. At this time, there were also a couple of attacking snipers in our vents, and had picked off a few of my teammates. Now, in this type of situation I usually make it a point to ensure that any attackers left on our Titan when it blows never make it out alive. A couple of well-placed APM's in the exit halls and me on the landing platform with a Lambert usually does the trick. ;)
This time however, those snipers jumped down from their vent just as I was headed to the first exit to lay down an APM. They ran past just as I was about to drop it. Oh well, no APM kills, but I was still not letting them go that easy. Whipped out the Lambert and cut one down just as he reached the platform. My clip now ran out of ammo, and the last sniper was right in front of me, back turned. Whipped out my knife to send him a personal message, just in time to watch him drop over the edge to the ground. No way. Not happening. I was right on top of him. So close I could've touched him during our free fall. He hit the ground first, and I landed right behind him. I heard the beautiful sound of my knife coming out of it's sheath, and promptly tore him a new one. A split second after the tags showed up, the scene cut to our Titan's demise. He may have gotten his Titan Survival Pin by making the landing, but it sure didn't save him that time!
Felt really good, and even in defeat, it was a personal victory. Can't wait for the next time! :D
