i sent a pm to a dice member here on the forums about Titan lag with the new booster pack. He was very nice about it and understood our frustrations with titan lag. He said for the upcoming booster their main goal is to cut down as much lag as possble in the urban titan maps;) He even said there are new optomizations coming out to reduce as much titan lag as possible even for people on low end systems:) i almost feel bad that i flamed DICE:( i hope they are indeed fixing these problems....
I figured they knew about it.
Several patches after BF2 hit the market they released an optimization patch that made the game significantly better.
I'm guessing they're planning a similar update for 2142.
Theyre pretty nice about everything, i asked them to demote me cause i got all my awards again and he was very nice about it..

If you want to stop your lag , 1.Get 1GB or more of RAM , 2. play on servers close to your location , 3. close all background programs ,
3 easy steps that ensure that i never get 'lag' on the titan , and havent for a long time ;)

I think a) you're lying or b) you have lower standards than some of us.
I have a very nice machine (not top of the line, though) and I still get dips into the 20s on the Titan, as does a friend of mine who has an even nicer system.

Well try playing on smaller servers , less players less lagg , and local ones also
I have never had this problem execpt joining a 47/48 server where the titan is packed.

So? i have 1gb ram and a 6800 card , runs fine on titan when its not packed the hell out of .

Let me ask you all a question ? does the titan model lagg when you are 0/48 in a server ? no , does it lag when 48/48 ? yes , yes i agree they model could be made better in the interior but its still the servers.

well i have 1.5 gig of ram and even when i play small server lag, although i do have a VERY bad graphics card, radeon x300 lol
But what concerns me is, recently (last 2 months) during my first game i play on bf2142, sometime during the round my comp will just turn itself off, but when i put my comp back on and reload the game it doesnt turn itself off again, very strange.
But what i have also noticed is when i first play (before it turns itself off) i get about 20 more fps than when i reload it back up,
any1 got any idead why this may happen??

titan + city map will = horrendous lag for pretty much 99% of the servers out there. this one will bite them in the butt hardcore.E-penises aside, just to clarify, titan lag is a server issue, dosnt really matter what system you have or how much ram. unless your a total newb we've all seen titan lag, just play smaller servers, the less the player count the better the game will perform.

I have 1 gig with an x700 and I am perfectly fine... dunno what you guys are talking about... :p
I dont really, but i understand your problems...

Actually in most systems 4GB ram (as in 4 x 1GB) will perform worse than 2GB (as in 2x1GB). Once you get 2GB mem sticks it will make more sense to run 2 x 2GB.

I have 3200+, 1 gig of memory, and a x700pro. Every thing is set on med 800x600 and i get very little lag on 32 man titan server.

Hey, take it as a fact that many people with this lag have already tried that. I have 2 gigs of ram. I have a 3ghz intel processor. I have a 6600gt nvidia graphics card (not super fast, but very decent). I'm always looking for ways to lower my latency (close servers, making sure my DSL is working right, etc). I make sure all background programs I can have closed are closed. I have even tried lowering my graphic settings to low... But I still get the lag in titan mode... even more so when I'm ON the titans, especially when they are close to each other. On titan maps, if I'm not near either titan, it's perfectly fine.... on conquest maps, it's very smooth, even on med/highish settings.
I really wish people would realize there is a problem with titan mode optimizations somehow... that it's not their computers most of the time. It may be that your hardware configuration gives the game 'exactly' what it wants and so it doesn't lag.... it really depends on a lot... but the bottom line is that people can't just go to the store and buy EVERY type of motherboard, graphics card, sound card, etc just to swap them all out till the find that "magic" configuration that works.
I know my friend got the same lag till he finally got an intel dual core, and now it doesn't do it for him anymore. That tells me that there is some sort of processing problems that are causing problems that it shouldn't and when he got that new processor, it broke the game down and made it easier to process possibly making the lag go away. Nobody really knows exactly why, probably not even DICE... or it would get fixed right? I'm sure they will figure out what's causing it and eventually it will get fixed, and NOBODY will get the lag anymore... but untill then, PLEASE just realize that it's not something stupid anyones doing that's causing the problem... and I guess I'm really tired of the naysayers yelling that there's no lag issues and that it's got to be the rest of us with the problem.
So just stop.
BTW, I used to have 1gig on my slightly older PC build... before I upgraded.... and this was when BF2142 first came out... the 2 gigs helped a bit, but that lag is still there... so don't bother with changing your ram unless you'd really like to anyways for the performance.... because it's unlikely to fix the lag issue, or at least completely.

I lag on Titan maps. But it's not just the servers, or the maps themselves. I lag because the commanders love marking the titans right next to each other and the people on the AA guns like to fire uselessly at the turrets and shields. That's why I lag.

i have a alrite machine, i used to be able to play titan without immense lag, but then 1.10 patch came and its all turned to S***, im all over the joint in the titans and its basically umplayable, iv been avoiding titan combat and been taking silos it gotten that bad. this news of a optimisation is great.

Wouldn't a city map with smaller draw distances = less lag? I'll lag more easily on sidi power plant (in the rare chance where it's played in conquest mode) than I will on belgrade or berlin. So... smaller map with smaller draw distances = no lag, add a titan in there and you have a reasonable level of lag correct?

Titan lag. Yep, it's still bad, even with the titans 500 miles away from each other and in park. And it's probably not the way DICE envisioned the game.
I have to ask: Anyone ever get the "crash to reset" problem on titan, it's one of the two reasons I gave up playing it. (the other being frustrated to death as commander). My computer would just freeze, "pop" and go straight to the loading sequence for Windows. Never had the problem in conquest maps. Thought it could have been the video card I used to have ...
PS ATI Radeon 9800 Pro? Mine just blew apart last month, started looking like a constant EMP blast on my desktop. Replaced it with a stronger NVIDIA card. I have no preference for either company. It served me well. Oh well, I'm getting a new rig when Bioshock comes out.

listen, it really doesn't matter what system you guys have unless it truly is a turd. theres a reason server providers WARN customers before they rent a titan server that they will not get a refund for poor performance, they tell you the game does not perform the way it was meant to and basically they wont do anything about it. to fix the problem all these server providers need to upgrade their machines and thats just not how server providers make money. if dice really wanted to do something about it they would limit the titan server rentals to server providers and gsp's that have machines that can actually handle titan mode but then again, thats not how a business makes money.

I've upgraded to an 8800GTX and I have none of the lag I got before even in the titan runs smooth, the only time I get players jumping all over the place is when there is a high pinger on server.

i went in and had a look around but couldn't really see anything that stood out, plus it only went back as far as mid December, but i had this problem before then. There was an error that kept showing up everyday 'Media Centre Receiver' but dunno what that means?
-BTW that lady is sooooooo hot :P
Haha yes she is very hot, its me gf *well i can dream* lol its really Elisha Cuthbert
Bad fan/overheating?
Well i doubt it because it happens during my first game, so my comp hasn't been on long by then, plus when i load it back up i can have my comp on for like 8 hours and it still wouldn't do it again.
I was playing with a Radeon 9800 Pro up until last week!!! Even that card is better than an x300, lol!
lol i told you my graphics was really bad, but i play with every setting on low/off lol
Is your VOIP off? I turned mine off and I did not have those problems after that.
Well i haven't bothered turning VOIP off because i can't see it having anything to do with my comp turning itself off during my first round (it will even turn itself off before the first round if i just leave it on the login section, plus its not my bf2142 because when i had a go of counter strike the other day, it did the exact same thing when i was playing, turned itself off and when loaded up stayed on for the rest of the night)
PS 2 - Get Ezekiel's woman and vbl's rocking Carl in the same photoshop someone!
Lol that would be cool :D
The lag in Titan mode seemes to be a combination of both net lag and graphic lag. I experience titan rounds where I can empty a clip into players right infront of me without getting a single hit. This and players warping around is due to the net lag.
When I turn on the FPS counter I sometimes see dips to 30FPS. This is with an AMD Opteron 64 @ 2.8Ghz, 2GB DDR ram @ 500Mhz and a 7900GTX 512MB @685/1720Mhz! I can only imagine what titan mode must be like on slower systems.

lol i have a 2.93Ghz, 1.5 gig of but my lame graphics card lets me down, bloody damn x300 (although it says i have 2 of them, it says SAPPHIRE RADEON X300SE and below it SAPPHIRE RADEON X300SE - Secondary what ever that means) No matter what am playing whether it be conquest or titan my fps is in the mid 20's lol, but as i also said before my comp turns itself off my fps is in the 40's then i reload and it goes down to the ****ty 20's or worse the teens

I hope that's gonna be a general optimisation for Titan lag, not only for the booster pack to encourage people to buy it.
PIV2,8Ghz, 1,5GB RAM, 6800GS - I get titan lag ie. low fps; most likely there is also usually a problem with the server, but the main source of my frustration on the Titan is low FPS. So it's also heavy on the PC not only the server.
